Great news. Seeing Jackson the 1st half of last season, I thought he was a one & done lottery pick. If there's someway we could land him or Lamar Wilkerson & then find us a 7'0 footer from overseas that can bury the 3. Sign them up ASAP & let's start the season tomorrow.

1. How can UK lose a kid to St Johns ( I get the NY thing)....but seriously. He's leaving UNC for$$$$ not to go home. Geez...I am not exactly sure why he's not in NBA draft to be honest.
2. To argue Jackson was an average player.....scored 12 pts (which isn't great) but 45% FG and 39% 3pt.....very solid for a FR. I'd be over the moon to get Jackson for PG. Now he isn't a playmaker for others....but we can develop that and in a 5 out offense....it's not critical anymore.

I’m not optimistic about this one either though… can you blame me? I know pope’s gonna get who he needs. But other than JQ, he’s had some tough sledding on big name so far …
Yeah, but these kids usually already know where they're going, the money is just an added dimension.
But, from what I understand, Quaintance took less money to come to us, so there is still some magic in that Jentucky name.

It's not as simple as he gave us a discount because he just loves UK. He's not in a position to be making demands with that ACL. Most teams were not wasting NIL on that.

The Big East only has basketball. If revenue sharing comes to be, there had better be caps, or the Big East could clean up.

He made it pretty clear he wanted to be at UK.
They all make it clear they want to be at UK, lol. Until they don't. He didn't have a lot of choices. And he wants to go to the NBA.

Edit: he also didn't want to be at UK bad enough that he was willing to play for Pope last season. People need to be realistic.

Pope didn’t recruit him once he took the job. It’s been pretty well reported that they (JQ and his father) wanted Pope to recruit him.

Stop talking out of your *** for once on this board.

Everytime I watched him he was a stud. Must have had an up and down season.
Started off like gangbusters in the non conference season. As they got deeper into conference he fell off from where he was. Didn’t do much of anything in the post season.

He did . He started off slow coming off of the bench . Midseason he had a stretch where he was scoring over 20 . Late in the season he went back to struggling .

A lot of mocks still had him late first round so I thought he would declare . I think he will end up at St John’s but if Pope can land him sheeshhh.

We are being realistic.
Pope didn't recruit anyone Cal had on the team, or in his incoming class. Pope appeared to wipe the slate clean.
Also, it looked to me like Quaintance had several schools interested in him and he wanted UK.

Talented, no question. That's why he was ranked #1. But that isn't why I said his options were limited. It's a risk, one Pope was willing to take. There are no guarantees regarding that ACL.
His options weren’t limited…he could’ve called any school in the country in need of C and said hey coach I wanna play for you and do you think that school would’ve said no?!

Just cuz you didn’t see a list of schools after him doesnt mean jack.

Dude had Pearl and Self recruiting him…that should tell you enough right there.

It's not much of a risk really. I can't think of anyone not named Robbie Hummel 20 years ago that kept blowing ACL's.
He will play for us in 25/26 and I bet he plays before January.

Admittedly I don’t know much about ACL tears but I had heard though they are tricky to recover from. That is good news to me usually it isn’t a repetitive issue.

Not sure how true this is coming from a Tarhill site, but says we just entered the fray the last 24hrs. Travis Branham says Kentucky has entered the race with St. Johns as the early leader.

Would love to land this kid. Would be a huge upgrade from Lewis.

Lewis was recruited to UK with the expectation he would apprentice with a top portal PG for one season and then ascend to the lead position for his remaining years here. Lowe changed that because he has two years of eligibility.

I suppose Ian Jackson could play a little point on an emergency basis like Robinson did but that is not his position. He would fill the same role as Wilkerson/Yates/Pierre. If he comes here and Lowe needs a blow, the nod will go to Jasper Johnson unless he is in foul trouble or injured.
