was talking with a co-worker about his two sons. One just finished the NFL combine and the other just finished his first year at Averett Cillege. The youngest turned down an offer from WVU out of HS because he felt he needed to improve before being able to compete. So now he is checking out Miami, WVU, and a couple other big programs that are recruiting him to transfer. I mentioned UK and that was the reply I got. His son has been a DB but he says he is 6'4" 210 and will probably fill out to 230. He has put on 20 pounds this year. So Neil says he's being looked at as an OLB by the above mentioned schools. Didn't ask his name, but I will tomorrow. Wish I had some info or a contact in the coaching office to look into this kid. But I hope we will eventually be not just a basketball school. Oh, and he has a nephew that played 7-8 years with the Patriots, and other family members that have plays in the NFL. And one last thing he said, we were talking about where UK has been and what we've invested in the FB program. And what it will take to be competitive and consistent. First words out of his mouth was "man it takes at least 5 years that build a football program, and more if you've never been good". I couldn't agree more.

The Dad's comment is an easy blow off if he's focused elsewhere. He'd have another excuse if you mentioned say LV (criminals), OK (too far), etc.

yes we are a basketball school...that has a football program and other sports that play in the SEC against better overall athletes and competition - but WVU / Miami - not like WVU is a football school or a basketball school- or - well you get the drift and Miami ain't seen sunshine on its FB program since the 90's -sooooo

Daddy sounds like he (as vhcat70 intimated) is looking elsewhere

It is a good thing that we have some very impressive recruits that do not believe that old line. Competing at UK at DB is no longer a one person battle.

The absolute, guaranteed solution to the problem is winning. For those of us around in 76 and 77, it was crystal clear then that Ky fans will be just as in love with Football as they are with bball if they win.

Prior to those years, I was bball first and Football second. Derrick Ramsey, Art Still, Dallas Owens and company converted me.
