thats correct. we have been told those who have played in NBA regular season games, like Flowers, are not eligible for college. but we also saw Baylor sign a player who has drafted 31st overall in the 2023 NBA Draft earlier this week. we also thought G league players would never be able to play college ball and we have dozens of players in college right now that played professionally overseas. all im saying is, anything can happen haha
No it's not going to happen,The NCAA has specifically drew a line in the sand ,if you played NBA games ,you can't play, but Diego Pavia is challenging this rule in court, but the NCAA messed letting guys from overseas and the g league play, there holding stead fast to the NBA rule,so we won't see this guy,I believe his agent is driving his stock up.

It seems Kansas is always neck and neck with us on every recruit
Used to be… Now they are just like Duke/ UNC/ UCONN… They own UK on the recruiting front!

Here’s some trivia for you…

In the past two recruiting cycles, Pope has lost more 5*s to his competition, than Calipari signed at UK in his first 8 seasons! 🤯🤯🤯

We need not worry either way. MB will never allow this to happen under his watch. It might make him look bad at next month's PTA meeting.

We may as well try to sign Oscar then.

i hope you realize hed instantly be one of if not our best player
You mean the 4 star guy who hasn’t made it in the pros yet and averages 8 and 6 in the G league? Not sure he’s much different than anyone else we currently have. Definitely wouldn’t come in and be some star. He’s shown flashes and is athletic but nothing he’s done says college star to me. He’s a 3rd or 4th option at best on any high level D1 squad. There’s a reason he went undrafted in 2023 and hasn’t made his way yet.

NCAA messed up when they let overseas pro players and G-league guys in... Pro League is Pro league, whether it's china, g- league or nba.

It's only a matter of time before players that played NBA games are coming back... I think the only hill the NCAA will be able to stand on firm is the age limit, 5 years removed from high school.

I'm all with us doing whatever we can and I don't care how blurry the lines are, it's the wild wild west, and this is competitive sports.

For Example: OSCAR is ineligible due to playing nba games and making too much money and his age. BUT, had this sort of thing been legal just a few years earlier, we could literally have taken Oscar back on UK prior to December 2023 when he played his first nba game and was still within 5 years of his Highschool graduation date. My point is, hypothetically had we got oscar at this time, is it really any different than getting an nba guy because he was good enough to get some minutes in the nba and shortly after sign a 2 way contract worth half a million or so. He scored 16 and 13 reb this year in a real nba game.

So that's why I say by allowing colleges to take G-league guys is really no different than taking some nba guys.

None the Less NCAA is going to try and stand on that hill of it just matters how much you were paid and your age, but like others pointed out, I don't think they could win if it went to court.

  • 34 Points (Career High): Scored a career-high 34 points against the Suns, sinking six threes and showing explosive scoring.
  • 27 Points: Had a 27-point game on March 20, 2025, playing for the Clippers in the G League.
  • 23 Points: Scored 23 points in an NBA Summer League game against the Rockets, adding steals and blocks.
  • Consistent G League Scoring: Averaged 20 PPG in the G League and had multiple 25+ point games, showcasing his ability to get buckets.
edit, THAT 34 POINTS WAS A G-LEAGUE GAME, none the less, g-league isn't just filled with chumps for competition. He scored 4 points in a real nba game, which is an achievement in my book, and it was done in less than 5 minutes play.

Is this guy for next year? Or this year's second semester?

Also, we need a PG, for this year, not a SF

Bronny James dropped 39 in a g league game and averages much higher than Flowers. This guys not a star. It’s truly not that hard to understand. He wouldn’t even start for us and I’m not surprised it seems most those schools weren’t even interested in him. Like I said he went undrafted and hasn’t made it in the pros for a reason.

okay, touche, I don't know much about the g-league, but yea if bronny james is dropping 40, g-league sounds weak as hell, last I heard he wasn't any good, unless he has improved vastly.

Not quite accurate. It all started when a certain player didn't like that he was portrayed in a video game. People who are okay with NIL are a part of the problem. If fans boycotted games this would get resolved real fast.

Um....no it won't. NIL is law now. NCAA v Alston basically solidified it with a 9-0 ruling.

NIL isn't going away. You need to get over that real quick.

Two things that will happen.
1.Somebody will challenge NCAA in court on this and NCAA will lose.
2. Congress will eventually get involved and screw things up even worse than they are now.

NBA is far superior to college basketball. There are enforceable contracts, much better players….

Under current NCAA rules, a player who has appeared in NBA games, as Trentyn Flowers has, would be considered ineligible to return to college basketball.

That said, the NCAA has shown increased flexibility in recent eligibility rulings. There are dozens of players currently in college who previously competed professionally overseas, and at least four former G League players have already been cleared to return. Earlier this week, Baylor signed the No. 31 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, though that player did not actually appear in an NBA game.

So while Flowers would currently be viewed as ineligible, the situation highlights how slippery the slope has become. The line between amateur and professional basketball has never been more blurred, and these cases continue to test where the NCAA ultimately draws it.
Fake News OP.

I have no doubt someone he knows told him this info. He just passes it on. In this CBB world even something this ridiculous seems possible.
Yea I don’t doubt he probably heard it. But not verifying it is lazy. Same with the mid year pg. That kind of stuff can hurt a team in the locker room too. Irresponsible is what it is.

Not that I agree or disagree with Baylor’s decision but I can say that if i got a call from Izzo trying to tell me how to run my program, I would tell him to go coach his own team.
