Not a bad effort, but our flaws were definitely on display in that half. I’m still glad we’re not playing Cal ball where that’s the only form of offense even attempted, but not having anyone who can create off the dribble definitely caught up to us after the initial flurry of outside shots stopped falling. It gets much easier for a competent defense to take away the 3s if they don’t even have to worry about you scoring at the rim.
The defense was also a bit lackluster. We’re having trouble staying in front of the ball, and maybe he just has a bad matchup against an absolute freak tonight, but Williams hasn’t been the enforcer at the rim I hoped he could be.
I’m not giving up on the season or anything, but for the people who seemed baffled as to why this team wasn’t considered a championship favorite by the national media, this performance so far is your answer.

dont worry, MSU is down this year, but they will return everyone next year and will be in the top20s when we play them at the CC.

I don't think Oweh and Butler should play much together the 2nd half becaus we need one of them hounding Knueppel at all times.
Turnovers were the main difference so we need to handle the ball better the 2nd half. Also I'd go right at Flagg and try to get him in foul trouble.

Interested to see this offense with actual talent in it.
Right now it's Duke, UConn, and Gonzaga. Too much length athleticism and skill between those 3 teams.

Not sure what Pope can do when the other team has the players to just get in your shorts on defense and you cannot take them if he’s not willing to run tons of screens to get someone open. Right now Duke is just getting in UK’s face and UK not showing any ability to do anything.

The same bunch who are ready to throw in the towel are some of the ones who declared Arkansas to be a top 10 team after they beat a crippled KU team. We haven't played well and are only down by 9, yet you are acting like we are down by 20.

I don't think Duke played particularly well either. They took care of the ball, but it's not like Flagg played that whole half either. I want to say he's went out around the 6 or 8 minute mark and never came back, and it was only then that we started to pace with Duke.

This. They are really, really good. And we haven’t adjusted on offense. Once they started pressuring we’ve just allowed it to happen. A bit disappointed with the coaching in that regard. One backcut for a layup. No slips or ghost screens. No zooms where the trailer gets curled all the way to the basket. Hopefully the second half shows a bit of an adjustment to them bullying us.
