Agree 100 percent. Theres no confidence on the defensive end. If they havnt played zone to this point , I don't think it's coming. Gonna have to rain the 3s

UK is a bit limited defensively. If they’re gonna rain 3’s, then Otega and Butler need to see fewer minutes…but tough to do since they are the squads best perimeter defenders. We will see what Pope changes, if anything, in the second half.

I would also like to see Pope stop giving Chandler whatever minutes he promised him to get him in Lex. He looks like a kid who took 2 years away from organized basketball. Maybe next year for him, but not now. Mop up duty only.

Pope's ability to make adjustments here is about the only thing I care to see tonight, win or lose.

If he can make some changes and we can make it a game, even in a loss, ill be happy. But if we see the same thing.. that's gonna be a bit of a worry for me.

We hired this guy to NOT be like Cal, so I need to see some real changes for the 2nd half.

Pope is rebuilding. But Cal is the only UK coach not named Tubby to beat Duke since Joe B. Hall.

We all hate his ***, but K will be the best basketball coach to ever live.

I think Butler is a little too offensive minded when he was supposed to be a defensive specialist.

But if Pope had a problem with it, I'm sure he'd say something , Butler is his guy.

The issues:

1. We have no driving game.
2. We can't stop their drives. They're getting in the lane at will.
3. Duke's defense is legitimate.
4. UK missed too many free throws and open threes.

We missed too many easy two point shots and shot poorly from the free throw line and turned the ball over too much and didn't play defense very well and we're down by nine. UK is not out of it; they just need to play better.

Duke is kinda built like Uconn has been and how we hope to be. A few very talented high level players with the rest being great defenders and great system guys. That's the recipe for winning big in 2024 and beyond. We don't have the great talent yet but it's coming.
