Looks like we have some mudders. Seems like we like the swampy conditions.

Two more score when Collett singles. The Oakland coach maybe want to save his bullpen but Cottam singles and he may have no choice. A lot has happened with two outs.

Puttin up crooked numbers on the board the last 2 innings, I like that. Thompson with a 7 run lead in the Top of 5th.

Thompson has reduced his ERA from 16.87 to around 5. If he can just walk the leadoff guy next time.

Heyer hits one out. Looks like we are going to be helping our team BA this weekend. Only Squires and Johnson don't have a hit yet.

Another very good at bat by Dawson, works a walk, but Squires hits into a double play to wipe out Dawson.

Thompson walks one and then gives up a HR. Having another rough outing. ERA creeping up again (6.75). Three home runs this game already given up by Thompson.

Gosh I hope he walks Jackson. Don't give up another HR!

edit: Managed to turn a DP on him to get out of the inning. I never imagined Thompson having one of the higher ERA's on the team but there you are.

I understand that since it bounced off the camera stand, it was a HR, but what if it bounced off the scoreboard, the Blue monster or the batter's eye? Those are considered in play, aren't they?

The scoreboard usually is, but I don't think the batters eye is. I could be wrong though. Blue monster is in play for sure.

Cottam grounds out to second but scores the runner from 3rd. Two outs.

85 pitches for Thompson. Does he come out in the 7th? Based on the season so far, I bet he doesn't.

Hazelwood replaces Thompson. One pitch earns him a fly out. 0-2 to the next batter, strikes him out with 4 pitches. He's challenging them.

The most noise in the play by play today was the foul ball on the roof.

I'm not sure how well this bullpen will do against SEC hitters, but the results so far are encouraging.

Look for the yellow line. Scoreboard and the batters eye is beyond the yellow line on top of the outfield wall. Plus both sit about 10' beyond the wall (on tv it looks like they are right on top of the outfield wall, but they are not.)

It really annoys me that the new arrangement is that Gabriel will do baseball until the women's season ends. We deserve better, especially considering that this is a historical season for UK baseball.

Dawson walks again. Is perfect on the afternoon. Squires needs to get himself a hit with two on.

Squires comes through. Now only Johnson doesn't have a hit.

Cats have hit well today, and Oakland has played Dr. Strange Glove, but I do like how we are playing early in the season. I believe Thompson will get things ironed out on the mound pretty soon .... I hope !

Cottam cranks another homer. 3 runs. He's having a day at the plate. Cats are still batting around .470.

Edit: Just about asleep obviously.

Hazelwood seems to be losing steam. Gives upa double and a single to yield two runs.

Have to hope Thompson gets things figured out soon. Competition gets tough very early.

Maley in to finish the game. Does it. The bullpen yields 2 runs in 3 innings. I think that is 9 runs over 27 2/3 relief innings if I counted right. That's a 0.98 ERA.

I didn’t figure up earned vs unearned runs but if the pen had given up 9 in 27 2/3 that is just under a 3 ERA.

You're right. I did the math in outs and only multiplied by 9 instead of 27. Normally, I just rough it out in innings. So that would be 2.93.
