Interesting to see if we can still score on lobs and rolls against better DI teams, but so far, it seems like Center will be a big strength for us. And watch out when Q comes back, maybe we can play Mo D at the 3 and twin tower it.

I predict Garrison gets a T in this game. But we still win and smack Loserville back into their usual place in KY.

Im kind of hoping he does get a T.

Met him several times and he’s a super nice guy. Spoke with me for at least 15 minutes on Kentucky and how much he’s appreciative. Said he always heard the fans were great but how unexpected it was when he saw what it’s really like. Talked about living in Lexington and making a home here. He then stayed over and hour longer to play kickball with the kids. Guy is hella cool. I see him in a totally different light now honestly.

I think Garrison is just one of those that turns monster on the court because it’s definitely nothing like his demeanor in person.

You’re free to think Jayden Quaintance is not our best post player.

Boy you know it’s bad for everyone when these rival fans are far and few between and trying to convince themselves there’s nobody else coming!

must be awful seeing a team like this and looking down and seeing a guy like JQ isn’t even warming up yet.

Dude hasn’t played a single game in a UK jersey and is coming back from injury, and we have another guy that’s pre-season SEC player of the year who is completely healthy. I’m not sure what the definition of doofis is, but I’m pretty sure if you look up the definition, some of the screen names in this thread would show up. It’s startling that an American adult can’t comprehend the difference between potential/NBA projections and college impact. You’re just setting yourself up for disappointment and putting pressure on a guy for no reason. JQ is a great talent, but won’t be our best player. He may not even be a starter this year. Keep in mind, JQ doesn’t have a game outside of 2 feet from the basket and can only impact the game so much. But you’ve never actually watched a full game of his though and wouldn’t know that. He might as well be Michael Jordan to some of you.

Having said all that, Moreno and JQ make an impressive 1-2 punch. There won’t be a team with a more physically imposing front court, and that doesn’t even take into consideration BG, the likely starter throughout the year.

How about the guy from eastern europe.

He has yet to have a break out game I think.

Moreno was impressive, especially being from KY.

The freshman impact on this team has been midly unexpected for me. Moreno being the biggest surprise of all. The kid looks comfortable. For most players, it takes a little time to adjust to the speed of the game, JJ and Moreno are plug and play ready. Gives us a tremendous advantage having BG, Moreno and JQ (when healthy) ... we are really looking good for such an early part of the season.

The freshman to freshman look JJ and Moreno have given us has been beautiful to watch.

I'm looking for our bigs to have a BIG game against Louisville. It's gonna be chippy out there.... We will be glad we got BG out there enforcing things. Time to step it up another notch,,,,

Go Big Blue !

I think when JQ is healthy, the frontcourt rotation is probably JQ/Mo/Moreno/Garrison

I always like Jela, but it is unlikely we play all five bigs...

I also like to see Garrison plays some 4, he seems to improve on ft, so he may also improve in shooting and touch around basket. Could play some pick and roll and pick and pop as finisher.

Gonna save this post for future reference. It's a real shame that the poster didn't have a username to attach it to....

Oh, and fwiw, if you look up "doofis" you won't find anything, doofus.

yes we are. JQ is our best player. Clearly everyone including the NBA scouts believe this to be the case as does all the usual sites like rivals espn etc. if he’s not who is?
Best PRO prospect does NOT mean best college player. Also, Lowe may have something to say about that.

Also, ZERO turnovers between the two last night.

Mo will man the 4.

JQ has more current potential to be the best player on this team by a fairly wide margin. It’s a really talented team and he may not end up being that given the injury, but it’s safe to say the best prospect and and gifted player we have on the team is JQ.

He’s also yes the best pro prospect on the team. It’s both true. Doesn’t mean he will be.

JQ is the best player on this team ON PAPER. That’s the guy pope wanted at the top of his wish list so yes potentially the best player we have hasn’t even played yet. Which is what we are talking about. The best player on this team on paper is still sitting on the bench. All this other stuff is nothing but goal posts moving and nonsense.

I would slow down ace. You are not a UK fan you a scared little troll.

Exactly, the best player on paper. If only paper won championships.

Says the guy that thinks the backup QB is always the best QB on the team. Maybe I should have used the word “retarded”, maybe that would have struck more of a bell with you.

His is NOT the best offensive player, not even top 4/5. Yes he may be the best defensive player, though Mo may have a say about it, but shooting and scoring is NOT his strength. Hard to be the BEST player when you are not scoring much. Unless he finds the scoring part of his game, no chance he is the best by a wide "margin" as you say. Not even the best.

You strike a chord or ring a bell. Ironic that you call me retarded.
And wtf are you even going on about QBs for? I have never said anything about the backup QB

The folks saying JQ was the best player were just talking about the center position, comparing him only to Garrison and Moreno.
You also seem to be underrating JQ on offense and defense. While it is true that JQ is not a very good shooter he is a force
around the rim, dunking over people with bad intent. And on defense you seem to know that he is known as a defender but
do not seem to know that the defensive metrics for him last year, when he was 17, were not just among the best in the country. They were the best in the country for the past dozen years. He is not just a good defender; he is the kind that warps the game.

Honestly, I hope one of our guards ends up being our best player.
College basketball is a guards game, if you don't have great guards, you aren't going anywhere.
JQ is going to be phenomenal, but this team is very deep in the front court and they're all going to play.
Personally, I'm a huge Mo D fan, the guy is a boss on the glass and on defense. There will be many games where he is our best player.

I also love MoD. I think Pope did a great job of picking his recruits and transfers. I've also been more impressed than I expected by Aberdine. The fact that he took them from Florida and Alabama is also sweet. Remember how Oweh was against Oklahoma last year? I expect to see some of that from those two against UF and 'bama this year.

Yeah, my jaw dropped when he pulled Abedeen and Mo D. I know money played a factor, but I don't care, they wanted to be here and they're going to be huge for this program this year.
Mo D is going to ge a big problem for UL, as long as he stays put of foul trouble.
