Very surprising.....maybe not with loss of the coach though. PAC-10 would be great place Kerry!!

My son is a VT grad, and I always kinda pulled for them when they weren't playing Duke. Its a shame that program will go into full meltdown with Buzz's departure after he built a very respectable basketball program at a football school.

Yeah. Young may be able to pull Tech out, but it’s going to take 5-6 years. Babcock better be patient. It does seem Young wants to stay there, especially given he’s from the area.

I feel bad for Virginia Tech. What Buzz did there in just five years is burning to the ground, almost overnight.

Blackshear was one of my favorite players in the conference this past season. Whoever lands him is getting a guy with All-American type talent. Wow.

As a Kentucky fan, I can say with 100% certainty that I’d take Blackshear over ANY recruit in this year’s class. That includes Wiseman, Carey, Stewart, etc. If he was a freshman along with those guys, no. But, for one year, which is all we’d have any of them, I’d take Blackshear and not think twice. I’ve watched him play many times and love what I see. Having said that, I doubt we land him. Like some of you have stated, whoever gets him will greatly improve their team. Actually, it’s hard for me to believe he wouldn’t be a first round pick now. I just don’t see 30 better players coming out this year. I like him a lot.

Right but you, as well as anyone, should know being one of the best 60 college players isn’t how the draft works.

Well, I understand that lol - I just meant that it’s not a loaded draft. Looking at the mocks, I’d note Blackshear better than a lot of the late 1st and 2nd rounders. I probably wouldn’t have said this in December, but he’s had a really solid last 2 months. I think he’d be a better pro than a lot of the names out there.

He’s a really good player, stepped up the last half of the season big time... Not sure if I’d take him over a few of the guys in this year’s class though. I can’t see him going to UK. I think VT is still the front-runner, the new coach will play a big role. Also pretty likely that he plays his way into the 2nd round of the draft.

NBA, Virginia Tech, Texas A&M, Florida (Orlando Native), Kentucky. Idk. He certainly has options.

I don't feel bad with the way VT behaved during our S16 game. The mugging, hand gestures and clapping in Tre's face was a disgrace. Nolan was barking at Buzz when game concluded.

Blackshear is pretty good as we've seen him first hand numerous times. Will be a great pickup wherever he goes and he deserves the respect you've given him. However, I just want to comment that I wouldn't take him over Wiseman & Carey. Not trying to nitpick your comment in any way, I just love Wiseman and Carey's games. Wiseman's length by itself will win games for Memphis and Carey will demand double teams as the season progresses. Wiseman at UK would have been a scary thought with the way Cal gets his teams to play D
