Not much loss there...when your system is broke...you replace the parts.In this case, it’s the whole system.
Agree...only piece that concerns me is the recruiting hit we might feel.

Thank you for your service. The secondary was attrocous. D line and linebackers didn’t help the situation though but DBs lacked toughness and general ball skills that need to be corrected.
Given the timing of Cooks' departure, I don't see recruiting compromised at all. By the time OU recruits its next DB, Grinch will have his own defensive coaches in place who can recruit well.
Yeah I'm not going to miss a guy who refused to teach his DBs to TURN YOUR HEAD AND FIND THE DAMN BALL!!

It is not like the talent was miserable. His scheme was lousy and the tackling...well that was downright awful. Passive defense go away.
I like it. My two least favorite position coaches are now gone. No more Kish and no more Cooks. Now hopefully the linebackers and defensive backs will finally improve.
I won't debate that the LB and DB coaches should or shouldn't be purged, but those positions got little help from the DL, which gave opposing quarterbacks enough time to perform a vasectomy.
I believe we have 1 four-star recruit on the entire roster at DT, and he was inured last year if I recall correctly. That has to change.

I don't disagree with you one bit. The next domino that needs to fall is the defensive line coach. Our defensive line does not get off the ball and they don't appear to even try to get off blocks. It might a result of the scheme, but I would love to see them be more aggressive.
We had 4-5 guys that were 4 star guys that all played in the Army all American game. Thompson, Tatum, and Redmon, not to mention Benito and White at the LB position all 4 star recruits. Kelly, and Asamoah were guys who should have been labeled 4 star.

I do realize there are highly ranked players on the defense. I was only commenting on DTs. I think Thompson is the only 4 star DT on the roster. The rest were 3s.
Sorry guess I read it wrong, yes Thompson was the only DT with 4 stars, It seems we have gone away from recruiting the 1 and 3 technique types of guys, and focused on guys would rush from the end position.
