What do you do with him? How much longer do you keep trotting him out there? He is still hitting sub .100 at just .073. He played in 3 games this week and went a combined 1-8 (.125).

Holen is hitting .286. Do you send out the JUCO transfer, or keep trying Kessler?

Holen has played well but my gut tells me to stick with Kessler. He’s hitting the ball well, when it’s not hitting him! His OBP is very good for someone who only has three hits on the season. I still believe they’re going to start dropping in for base hits.

In my mind, it’s similar to basketball where a good shooter needs to see a few go in to break out of a slump.

I’ll go on record *gulp* and say that by the end of the season he’ll be hitting over .270.

Unbelievable that he has just 3 hits on the year, and 16 games in.

It is very possible that they start to fall, but we are 30 percent of the way through the season and things from here should only get harder and not easier. So, it is concerning, but we do know the kid can hit.

Kessler is the leading hitter in conference play from a year ago. He hit .265. I think you have to continue to play him just because of his experience but, and I hate ragging on him, but his average sucks and he’s not been very good at throwing runners out. I know some of that is on the pitchers but that has to change.
