Seen this on Fox 8 just a little bit ago and went to ABC 11 to verify but Kestrel Heights could be in very much trouble and might not play Football after 2017. According to the article that some risky business is going on with graduates in terms of classes and diplomas and has been for a while.

This will cause some serious reprecutions if Kestrel's forced to become a K-8. Thoughts?

166 of 399 got bogus diplomas over an 8 year period....unreal!!!

If it was 1 person in this case that caused these slip up's it'd be dramatic incomepetence but considering it was at least 3 people in power it's something more planned. It looks like they were striving to be a high school version of a degree mill like the ITT Tech branches used to do before they got shut down.

No way this should be allowed to stand. It violates educational ethics. Education isn't Education without the hard work. I The odd part about it is that nothing much came out of it. They went 9-2 in 2015 but besides that they haven't been consitent in Football. Basketball they compete well but not Football.

Kestrel did self report though according to the article but that won't do much if what they are accused of is proven true. They released a statement saying it was "accidental," and not intentional with malice but there's no way that's true especially on the first part. Way to many kids for it to be an accident.

I hate it for those kids who did work hard. I also hate it for the schools who had them scheduled this coming year; they will be wide open for a schedule spot if they drop out. But on the brightside maybe it's a sign the board means business again in both acedmics and on the field. They drop the hammer now maybe they won't hesitate down the line on other trouble schools.

But hey let's keep pushing for the charter envelope without oversight. Many charters are nothing than money hogs for the ones that create them. That is why the state must cap the number of charters and get in their business just like they do public schools.

Hopefully this case will be the barier breaker and it will change the tide in terms of overlook.

PROBLEMS AT KH ARE NOT EXCLUSIVE TO CHARTER AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS, I WAS AT A PUBLIC SCHOOL WHICH FOUND AT THE END OF THE YEAR THAT STUDENTS WHO GRADUATED SHOULD NOT HAVE, SWEPT UNDER A RUG, SOME STUDENTS WOULD FIND OUT TOO LATE THEY NEEDED ONE CLASS, OR SWITCHED THEIR TRACK AND GUIDANCE COULDNT REORGANIZE THEIR COURSES TO FIT A TRACK, SO TO AVOID PARENT RATH THEY GRADUATED & PRINCIPAL HAS FINAL SAY, SO NOT EXCLUSIVE TO CHARTER AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS

The amount of spelling and grammatical mistakes in a thread lambasting a school for fake degrees is hilarious. I try to overlook those type of mistakes on a message board because, hey, we're all human, but this is probably a thread where you want to get it right.
