I dunno- they have the same money, facilities and recruiting base as Texas. if your history defines your future, I hate to think what that means for us.

The key part there is recruiting base in Texas. That gives them some hope for the future. That said based on their history, the expectations of the fanbase is a bit absurd. History does matter a bit with expectations.

Because Sumlin is a victim of his own success. After the Manziel years, and several phenomenal recruiting classes, expectations go through the roof. That, and as the above post points out, it's in Texas, where expectations are brutal always.
Yeah, I think a large portion of their fan base realizes his success was mostly JFB and not his coaching prowess.

Baylor has no history either but do you think their fans don't have high expectations. Do you think MSU and Ole Miss are longing for the good old days of 5-6 win seasons.

You are exactly right. If you are content to be confined to your history and you have none to speak of, you are screwed.

He's also a victim of his contract. He makes $5 million a year. If you are making that much to coach football at he only SEC school in Texas, you better be better than 8-5.
