As someone who sits in my armchair, watches the games, complains when things don't go well, then goes to mow my lawn or whatever, I would be ashamed to be mean towards decisions a guy makes who has been hurt a lot, spent hours in the weight room and on practice fields the last 6 years. He has earned the right to do what he wants.

The kid might not be vibing that much with the staff and sees younger players on the rise in terms of playing time. If he thinks he might get more time on the field elsewhere, good luck to him.

Another top priority for our new Dline coach is to get production out of McMullen and at minimum keep Williams around for depth purposes. If both aren't on the roster next year that doesn't reflect well on him.
Doesn't reflect well on who, Williams for leaving? Because if you mean Coach Parella's 2% constant improvement and effort thrust is too much for whats known the past: its not shame on the coach. It would be shame on the coach for not leading me the way Coach is helping them be all they can be - young guys say he can be fun; he is connected and concerned. GBR

So far there is still no official word that he is leaving, unless I missed something. So I would be interested in knowing how 4.6.3 was confident that Williams is gone.

It seems as if the coaches are planning on moving ahead without either of these two being on the team next year. That's at least what I'm reading through the tea leaves. They may be part of the holdover (no insider knowledge... speculation ONLY) group that has yet to embrace the new staff and culture. If that's the case, no matter what their talent is, someone who doesn't buy-in causes more damage than good. I'm not saying either player does represent this - just stating IF they do.

I have literally zero insider knowledge, but I am a gambling man, and I'd wager that neither of these guys are wearing the N next season at this point.

In the case of Williams, published accounts of outside courting is a minimum not helpful wrt team chemistry. I don't begrudge anyone speculating on his status. I think we need to take the McMullen situation at face value (Riley's quotes: "He's catching up with some stuff personally for himself. ... And I basically told him the other day the next time I want to talk to you is next week. I'm just giving him his space right now." "It's just a senior that is working on graduating and getting into grad school that I just gave a little bit of leeway to."). The dude is a two year starter and will be a key component to our Dline this Fall. Certainly one hopes he is just doing what was agreed with Riley: focusing on getting his academic house in order so he can spend his 5th year as a grad student.

I'm sorry, but there is more to this than that. I don't care if he's a senior, he would benefit from practicing, especially if he's going to potentially be a starter. He's just in college. It's not as though he's a 10 year NFL vet.

Whenever I hear someone is tending to some personal stuff, I have to believe there is some viable risk to him not returning to the team. I also took the quote from Banker to indicate that at best, it is in doubt "the best thing to do right now is talk about the people that we've got."

I am not discounting the risk, just saying that we should take what has been said by Riley at face value. Banker's quote could also be interpreted to mean that McMullen is not practicing, let's talk about the kids that are. No doubt McMullen would be a loss, as he would be replaced by a RS frosh (albeit a very talented one). I think Maurice is very solid. The drop in experience and talent in the middle would be noticeable. But perhaps Kevin and Khalil could mitigate the situation with more drive. Neither Collins or Valentine played to their potential last year, IMO.
Or GMac returns and it's less of an issue.

Stop blaming former coaches. He is gone. Time to move past it. What is with the obsession? New guy has had more than enough time to fix things. The media is out to get the program.
Did I miss any of the go to's?

Thanks, BTW used to spend summers at my Grandmothers strawberry farm near Snohomish I think it's now the baseball fields at Maltby Community Park a lot of great childhood memories from there.

Crying for this long is not very manly. Let me guess... it's someone elses fault because you don't feel supported enough?
