While LA is first on the Blue schedule in week 3, for me the key game is week 5 hosting Rita at Gately. Played really poorly vs them both times last year and especially the 2nd time around. MC should have the QB and other positions like D line, Griffith’s replacement figured out by then. Mid-season home game before a tough 2nd half of schedule which are all road games. I need MC to win this game and win it resoundingly.

Dean,

Like I said yesterday over on the other side games 4-7 set the season value for Naz. With that in mind game 4 against COM I feel sets the table for the season.

IMO, the key game for JCA is Week 1 against Franklin, WI. The game is a bit of a wild card. No idea what to expect in terms of the quality of the opponent. As odd as it may seem, it's almost a must win for the Hilltoppers to have any chance of getting to 5 wins. Since expectations are not very high, it may also set the tone for the remainder of the season.

Neuqua Valley, Waubonsie Valley, Glenbard North and Naperville Central will all mix it up weeks 1-4 which will define their seasons in another highly competitive year in the DVC. Each of these schools expect to be state title contenders, but only two of these teams may be undefeated through the first four weeks given the early clashes in conference play. Personally, I'm pulling for Neuqua. Week 1 against Metea is always fun, but week 2 against Central and 3 against Waubonsie will set the table for the rest of the year. There are no weeks off in the DVC unlike the old Upstate 8 Valley. Every team is going to be good this year.

Week 2 @ defending champ BMac... If we can split our games with the state champs it would tremendously help us get to 5-4.

For Naz I'm going to say week 3 @NND. First test on the schedule for the young roadrunners on the road in Niles which is normally a packed house.

It is imperative for JC that they at least split their first 2 road games.

Keep piling up those sandbags.

I'm with godfthr53.
Do you really believe an 8A powerhouse like the Brook will struggle against the defending 3A champs. Their actual enrollment is like 325 kids.

I tip my hat to BMac for having the stones to step up and play an 8A team.

I think it was a last resort for Brook. Marist was their first choice and the game almost happened but Marist nixxed the deal in the 11th hour.

Same 3A team beat Providence last year and has multiple D1 players. Thats a 8A powerhouse masquerading as a 3A squad. Do you think we would play an actual 3A team like Byron or Tolono Unity?

HC in week 6

BB is out of conference, so just a good measuring stick
LT is good, but think they will have difficulty at Duchon

GW at HC will likely determine WSS this year with all due respect to OPRF and LT

Last year they did beat Provi, well, one of them did anyway. I really don't think that Mac will be much of anything this year, knowing what they graduated out of the program.

High schools graduate people every year. BMac still has D1 guys. They have one rich football history and tradition.

I agree, they have 2 D1 guys. In my opinion, one is extremely overrated, and the other is actually damn good.
I say I don't think they'll be much because I know they graduated 99% of their defense, their starting qb, their big shot running back that was the entire team last year, not to mention probably close to their entire o-line.
And what are you worried about?lol. Doesn't the brook have a few D1 kids of their own? And please understand, I'm totally not trying to be an ***. I'm seriously just stating my opinion. I'm not just trying to have you overlook Mac since I graduated from the Ville!!

Dylan Deatherage (what a name) (DL), Chris Bell (WR), and Giavion Mason (DB) look like D1 prospects... returning 9 starters per the ihsa championship game roster, 5 on D and 4 on O (2 OL return).

We cant turn B Mac into some sisters of the poor type team. These are the Kankakee All Stars and the guys they have stepping in for those that graduated will be up to the task. I just hope we can pull off the long road trip upset!

Bones,

Come on man, Da Brook can run a 1 front with Mallory and do damage to B-Mac's O-line. I know you get worried about the jinx factor but they could be Very good this season.

Every time I see Mallory's listed weight these days it gets lower and lower and some guys here assured me last week that 190 lb OL could block the 290 lb DT with a mean streak! And I watched their championship game last week and the Mac skill positions looked very good. No reason they cant have good skills again.

This is a toss up. I like the way we looked in 7on7 but we both know that you can only tell so much without pads and people hitting you.

I watched a 210 vs 290 at practice the other day. The 290 literally picked the other kid up and threw him at the runner. So it isn't always possible imo

Did the 210lb guy "zone block" and have "the heart of a lion"?
Your anecdote is how it typically works in my head when I envision it.

The game I have circled is Mt. Carmel. Will be telling to see the development of MCHS vs. the legacy of MC.

Aurora Central Catholic @ Aurora Christian in week 1 will set the tone for both teams. The schools are .6 miles from each other. How many away games can you walk to?

This game should have a playoff-like atmosphere and a big crowd. Same game is scheduled at Central next year. Hopefully this game will become a week 1 tradition for both schools.

This is a key game for AC as they bounce back from a 4-5 season last year - their first time since 2001 they have not made the playoffs. They have a lot to prove, but need to show a dominating performance to set the pace for the season and get back into the playoffs.

The only thing zone blocking really does is create natural cutback. Saying a lineman has an area and not a man is not necessarily true. All inside zone plays playside guard and tackle or guard and center are double teaming to lb. The main reason smaller teams are able to compete now is tempo not zone blocking. Football has become much less smash mouth and much more getting athletes in space.

Exactly, it's like ND fans saying they don't have a chance against Michigan because their enrollment is so much smaller..... Mac draws from a similiar sized talent pool as Bolingbrook..

A more accurate analogy would be ND saying they dont have a chance agains College of Dupage since COD's students are local. Mac's talent pool is larger, much larger...

Just looking at the enrollments for:
Kankakee - 1201
Bradley - 2051
B Mac - 325
Herscher - 569

they'd have a base of 4146 and that doesnt include all the nearby schools. Our talent base of course 3549.

Bones,

You do realize COD pulls it's players from Florida, Texas, and California when they can't get into the D1 the committed to right? Bad analogy this time and HHS' is even worse. Your talent pool at Da Brook is plenty deep!
