What’s the big ticket item for your kid this Christmas? I have a 10 year old boy we are still searching for his main gift. I feel like he is kind of at that in between stage where most stuff I come across seems like toddler gifts.

My son wants new headlights for his car. Daughter got a silver Yamaha trumpet 2 years ago, so every year she's getting an invoice showing how much was paid on it.

The older they get, the more expensive Christmas gets.

My son wants the NBA Jam Arcade 1up and Jordan 1 Mids. Bah humbug.

I’ve just started looking at a few motorbikes ( the less expensive ones). Coleman has one that’s $279. Not his idea, but just grasping at straws.

My boys wanted LEGO’s at that age. Now it’s money, electronics, and cloths.

Got my daughter a singing Elsa doll and a Barbie dream house and my son a cardboard box. Just starting the fun years of Xmas, very blessed.

Leave it there. I worked on one last week and the neck bearings are scary. I wouldn't want my son riding it and he's 20.

5yo getting a Switch...bought it months ago because they were becoming scarce.

8yo is big into Mario. Got him the new bluetooth Mario lego and several sets.

Both of our older boys have birthdays in December...so the whole month is insane..actually a little less though because BDay parties will be minimal.

3rd boy is not even 2 yet so toddler stuff.

GPU's sold out everywhere. As I'm sure you're aware from our last GPU convo.

Seriously, everything good, sold out. Damn supply chains!

My son is building his first pc and just bought one the other day. I think it was a GeForce GTX 1660 Super (don't know how good it is). He's building the pc with an AMD Ryzen 5 chip and 16gb of RAM. Supposed to be able to run 1080p in high settings and strong enough to run 1440p well. He just bought a 32" monitor that's 1440p to go with it. All in he probably has about $1,300 in it I believe.

Mine costs around 2.1k rtx 3080 and the new amd 5600x processor, just to give a example of its power it runs fortnite on low settings at 1080p at 600fps

Awesome! A real entry way into IT if he ever wanted to go that route. I've built a few rigs, probably gonna have to build another within 5 years.

I feel like Im gonna have to bail on the 3xxx series.. the 2xxx series seems to be barely any cheaper, so no to that... so IDK what next.. Maybe an AMD card, but also hard to find. I really just need something that's a good deal (but not neccesarily a GREAT deal) better than a 3gig 1060.

I'm wondering if an older 1080 6gig might get me through..

Switch supposedly goes on sale at 7:00 for $299 including Mario Kart and 3 months of their online stuff. It’s the older version but still a pretty good deal. Walmart, Best Buy, Target, Amazon’s and Game Stop.

They’re probably all sold out ......

I always wanted to build my own pc but never got around to it. Did the replacement stuff like sound and video cards, RAM, and even swapped out a processor once. Never got to buy all the parts and do a full build though.

The company my wife works for did a pc purchase program that they paid it back over x number of months, but they wouldn't let you build one. Had to be pre-built. Then laptops got affordable and we haven't had a pc since. I mostly just use tablets and phones these days and any gaming is done on consoles.

My son just got a notification that they don't have that video card after it said they did. A Best Buy across town has a different version of it (different manufacturer I guess) and he can go pick it up tomorrow. Hopefully they don't have issues with their inventory as well.

We just put my son's pc together and everything worked. So I guess we did it right. Hardest part was figuring out what cables plugged in where. Just found some YouTube videos to figure it out. Only thing left is the wifi card is delayed. The card will be really close to the GPU fan. Hope that won't be a problem. That's the only slot available. Wondering if a dual band USB ethernet adapter would work better for the space limitations?

Here's a picture of what we have done so far. You can see the space available below the GPU.

Nothing. Gonna load 'em up in the car, drive over to the junkyard and show them a burned out frame then tell them Santa died in a crash.
