Beamer was here 2007-2010.
2007 composite #6.
2008 composite #22.
Beamer was instrumental in landing many of those guys and was hence made recruiting coordinator in 2009.
2009 was composite low teens; 12ish.
2010 was composite low 20s; 23ish.

If you say 2010 was trending down, 2010 was Marcus Lattimore, Connor Shaw, Ace Sanders, Victor Hampton, and AJ Cann.

You can look up the rest yourself.

This is what I was talking about when I wrote this earlier:

He was recruiting coordinator when Spurrier was here for a time.

Kids wanting to play for one of the greatest coaches of all time was supposed to be all due to Shane's recruitment.

Except in this case, we're trying to give Shane credit not only for his years as recruiting coordinator, but a couple years prior. Just to make the story better. (2007 for example)

He was one of 9 assistants in 2007-08 prior to becoming Recruiting Coordinator. And a reason why he might have been chosen to be Recruiting Coordinator in 2009 could have been because he had a couple of years experience as Recruiting Coordinator at Mississippi State. The On3 site had the SC 2010 class ranked 51st when he was RC. I, and many others, made the point in 2021 that recruits back in that day were coming to play for the legendary Steve Spurrier, not for Shane Beamer. I know if I was a recruit and I was recruited by Shane Beamer in 2009 or 2010, playing for future Hall of Famer Steve Spurrier, would be a major reason to come to South Carolina. Spurrier would be a magnet. After Beamer left South Carolina, our recruiting rankings were in the Top 20 for the following 5 years at 16, 19,19, 14 and 17. There was no fall off to sub-25 rankings. And that's because recruits came to play for Spurrier. As important as recruiting is (the lifeblood of programs), if Beamer was special at recruiting, you would think that one of the 3 schools, Virginia Tech, Georgia or Oklahoma he worked at after leaving USC, would have made him Recruiting Coordinator. But, they did not. They obviously felt that his talents would be better used doing something else in their program.

Well now on3 was wrong now weren’t they.

Those guys look like #51 to you? Me either.

Looking like Duckworth won’t make his decision today based on what just read, but that could change anytime the way recruiting goes now.

Got to give him credit. Arguing that mid 20's is some improvement over all the other mid 20's ranked classes is a special kind of "special".

Can someone please explain to me how this myth that Beamer is a great recruiter developed. Was there any evidence at all that he was? Someone here said his recruiting when he was here was off the charts. I did not see that. In the two years he was recruiting coordinator here, our rankings were 11th ( that's good) and 51st (not good). It does not add up. If he came here (I'm not saying he did) with the reputation of being a great recruiter, then he has been a fraud.
It's like the NFL Draft, when they announce who they have chosen everyone starts cheering and clapping. You can tell they have never heard of this person in their life! They have no clue what their getting.

ESPN did rank the 2010 class at 23. As I stated above , there is nothing really special about a number 23 ranking. The 247 site had the 2010 class ranked much lower at 34.
