I have no issue with him taking the new job. I have no issue with him not coaching in the playoffs even.

I dont like this ultimatum. I see nothing really wrong with letting a couple guys coach in the playoffs as he moves others to LSU to get things going.

Is it official that he is going to LSU?

The guy will probably be good for several National Championships there. With the media hype he gets and comes off as a modern day Spurrier. I think this gets him first dibs on portal players to build fast.

To be fair Lane begged the AD to let him and his staff stay until the playoffs were over. They flat out refused so now he is just doing what Ole Miss wanted. They didn’t want him poaching more players come the Jan 2nd portal date opening.

Yep. I don’t like the constant rotation from the portal and players jumping every year, but coaches constantly jump for what they believe are better opportunities. That team is going to be hosed because all the “adults in the room” did what they wanted. No one can be good with that and also say players need to sit still. Saban made a great point recently about standardizing the football calendar so crap like this won’t happen.

Exactly. What is he supposed to do. The AD is the one that put Kiffin in this spot. I was hoping he would stay at Ole Miss, just to watch the LSU fans go nuts.

Don't be surprised if one of these days a player exacts retribution from a coach sabotaging a season they worked so hard to achieve. Hard to respect someone who has asked you to work hard and sacrifice to achieve a group goal who then goes and trashes it for their own self-interests.

And you can't blame Ole Miss for denying the request. Insulting really to let him finish the season when he's already leaving

If true, that puts me squarely behind Lane again. He asked, they said no. He took his staff and moved on.

I'm going in the transfer portal as a fan.... I'm taking my fandom to LSU with Kiffin.

I don't blame him for bouncing to Baton Rouge, but I do blame the OleMiss higher ups for dumping their season. He obviously thinks they have a legit chance to win it all or he wouldn't be wanting to coach through the playoffs.

I would say I feel bad for the players, but that would be a lie. Sucks for them, but there's no loyalty from either side.

Hard to be a fan of most anything in a system where it seems virtually everyone is a liar and/or thief. A real narcissism factory.

Still waiting for it to collapse under its own weight.

In the meantime, I'll enjoy some FCS playoffs and the Army/Navy game.

Well, if they dropped an undefeated FSU from the playoffs for the reason 1 player, their QB would be out, then how could the committee justify keeping Ole Miss in.
Not saying it is right, but this is where we are.

Oh I know. One and done at UT after Southern Cal came calling and he had to get a big security escort to leave the UT sports complex with all the people that had gathered.

Then a few years later Southern Cal wouldn't let him on the team bus back to the airport after their bowl game because they were firing him. I remember how hilarious that was.

Im just taking a step back and thinking about this differently than some.

Ole Miss was not a premier job. Kiffin came in, elevated them and moved on. If it was us, I would try to appreciate the "being elevated" part, and try to rationalize that we're not the premier destination job.
