Kim Schatzel Named New UofL President

Towson University President Kim Schatzel will be the next president of the University of Louisville.

Schatzel will be the university’s 19th president and the second woman to lead the school. U of L’s board of trustees voted unanimously to hire Schatzel in a special meeting Wednesday morning.

Schatzel, 66, is "a nationally recognized leader with extensive experience in both higher education and the private sector," the university in an email Wednesday morning.

66 year old president who fulfills our desire for a “long term solution”? I hope she succeeds big time, but that seems like a strange choice.

A Presidents job is to raise lots of money. If she can do that, she’ll be fine.

At 66 years old I don’t think she will have a long run. If she tries to do more damage to the athletic department like Bendapudi did she won’t be raising a lot of money.
