The IHSA waived their terms and conditions which allowed Simeon and Phoenix into the state playoffs. That despite the fact that neither school would have the 8 games that were originally needed to participate in the post season according to the terms and conditions that all schools had agreed to at the beginning of the season.
Had the IHSA not changed their own rules midstream, both Vernon Hills (which was the only 5-win team out of the playoffs) and Naperville Central (4-5, 55 playoff points) would have been in the playoffs.
