..that we didn't see a lawsuit filed on behalf of Vernon Hills and Naperville Central.

The IHSA waived their terms and conditions which allowed Simeon and Phoenix into the state playoffs. That despite the fact that neither school would have the 8 games that were originally needed to participate in the post season according to the terms and conditions that all schools had agreed to at the beginning of the season.

Had the IHSA not changed their own rules midstream, both Vernon Hills (which was the only 5-win team out of the playoffs) and Naperville Central (4-5, 55 playoff points) would have been in the playoffs.

I'm not an attorney, but it would have been an interesting hearing.

Chicago Marine was left out, not Naperville Central.

Vernon Hills 5 wins won a combined 6 games. I'm sure they were not that devastated to miss.

I bet the players would say otherwise, especially the seniors...
In no other year would 5-4 with their points get them in. They almost got lucky and got a bid they didn’t deserve but what are we talking about here? Every team knows 6 wins is the magic number, if they don’t get in they should just sue? Come on. One of the best lessons I learned playing sports was how to handle adversity and how to lose. Too many adults making excuses for kids nowadays and therefore they never learn that lesson.

I think the oddest most controversial part of all of this is that there is probably a 50% chance all the CPS schools have to forfeit this weekend. Why are we taking that risk and allowing them in, instead of just giving their playoff spot to the next in line. I'd rather see 4-5 teams in then a quad (4a north) with 3 of the 4 games resulting in a forfeit.

THEN this makes all the home-away talks that much more perplexing. The high seeds that are missing a home game this weekend are getting an advantage of potentially having a home game later on.

I would like to see a rule change. If you are on strike Saturday night of the pairings then you are ineligible for the playoffs.

Agree 110%. What’s worse is the amount of qualifiers from that district. If it was a single high school district it wouldn’t be as devastating.

What is the total number? I'm too lazy to count.

3 in 3a and 5 in 4a.....I don’t know about the other classes. Is Phillips involved in this? I know that’s the big name....are the considered a public school or arnt they some type of charter? Being serious

Not sure if Phillips is a magnet or not, but they did petition up this year.
