King William is not a program I cover but I saw this tonight and thought it was interesting. This program fell by just 2 points to Thomas Jefferson in the Region 2A Final... they were nearly in the state semifinals and now it sounds like the program is on the brink.

Of course another situation where a coach gets canned because someone "thinks" they know how to do it better. Dude spends 7 years rebuilding the program, gets 56 wins, 7 playoff births, and 2 runner-ups in region and then you cut his legs out from under him because someone else "thinks" they can do it better or they didn't like his style or success. SMDH we wonder why people dont want to coach anymore; I'm sure the higher-ups at KW probably just bowed down to someone who "thinks" they know best. I would say its unbelievable but its happening so much these days.

feel for the kids; this dude will be snapped up real quick by someone who understand football success (unless there is something we don't know about).

Sounds like little league parents, who have a few school board members in their pocket, want to bring in their little league coach to run their program. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The crazy thing is that it seems like the Supt, Principal, and AD have nothing to do with it and support the coach.

Didn't the same thing happen about 10 years ago when Just was the coach?

Still feels like there is more to this story. It is one thing to remove a coach, it is another to suspend a program.

My hunch is that Dehart ran the offseason program and until they sort it out they are stopping all activities.

That still does not make sense in my estimation as how many times do we see coaches leave programs and an assistant continue on till a new coach comes on board.

If there were internal problems, I feel confident that the AD, Principal, and Supt would have been involved in the decision.

Time will tell, but I feel confident that one of the Little League/AAU cronies will get end up in the head coaching spot if the school board gets their way. If I'm wrong, I will happily eat my words and own my mistake.

King William Superintendent of Schools Dr. David White declined comment on DeHart's coaching job calling it a personnel matter.

He said the shuttering of the football program was due to the fact that "currently, we do not have personnel to supervise strength-training and conditioning and therefore have suspended activities."

White said King William planned on fielding a varsity football team this fall and would hiring a new head coach.

DeHart will remain on the faculty staff at King William. An online petition was created Tuesday morning immediately after DeHart informed his team of the decision.

There is also a public comment session scheduled for the next King William school board meeting next Tuesday evening

I do not know Coach DeHart or any of the details. He did a great job at KW and is supported by the overwhelming number of players and parents according to what I have heard.

My guess would be that this move is entirely political. Some unsatisfied parent or person who wants the job went to the top division leaders and/or school board members who most likely are their friends. Then they railroaded and fired this fine young man and coach. Again, that is just my guess.

It sounds like this will backfire on the top people who made this immoral decision behind closed doors as well it should.

The Football program at KW has been suspended I heard because every single player (or most of them) quit the program in support of their coach. I was told they did it with class. Most of their parents back the coach as well.

Good luck to the people who support KW football and shame on the leaders who abused their power.

Now that JayEm has an opening, if I was Coach DeHart, I'd be throwing my name into that vacancy. The hell with that KW fiasco. Move on.

This entire "KW politics slide" started with the way they dumped Coach Roger Brookes. I haven't lived in KW in 35 years, but still have family and a huge number of friends in the community. The "rumors" being shared with me are disgusting. I'm not discussing rumors on an open forum, it'll eventually play itself out, so I'll just let that dog sleep for the moment. But I have to question how some of those school board members sleep at night....

When I saw the JM job open up I thought the very same thing. This late in the game there are very few coaches who haven't been hired and it would be a steal for the Yellow Jackets program.

JM job probably going to one of the two assistants that undercut Coach Serbay with the superintendent. Hope they get it and everything else coming to them, Karmas a b@&$!

I've heard plenty of speculation, but nothing that makes any sense on the KW deal. People I know that live in the area say things are being kept close to the vest. Unusual that something has not leaked out. That tells me they had no reason to fire him, he just got screwed over by the system. Sounds like some parents are stirring the pot. A sad situation that seems to be repeating itself in the area. It's bad enough when parents cause problems, but now people are losing jobs.
