I really don't know if we should start this thread or not after what happened on the Crest @ Burns thread...but we'll give it a shot.

Until last year Kings Mountain to me was just another game, no offense to there fans, but after 20 years of straight wins you just can't see much of a rivalry. I know there's been a couple hard fought games in that time...Now for the first time in a very very long time Crest is actually the underdog and I'm actually happy to see KM doing as well as they are. However, for playoff reasons, as well as conference title sharing! I hope my Chargers beat the brakes off your Mountainqueers!

It's gonna be a good game folks!

Are you kidding me KM has 1 loss in OT they are a 2 td favorite. We are not mighty with 3 almost 4 losses!

I see this game as a toss up .....up until last night I would have given km the edge but crest is looking very strong. I was impressed with the big qb. Kid can throw and is not scared to take a hit.

Last night Crest impressed you? They had zero competition what so ever. We threw a touchdown to the Crest DB and it was over. They are well coached but I think KM wins. Crest isn’t as good as they were last season and KM is better than they were. Simple math really

So KM just had a bad night last week against Burns? Or Burns just had a bad night against Crest? What is your argument other than a bias against Crest?

Not biased at all. I hate everyone. KM threw two picks in the end zone. Burns defense gave it all they had without a doubt but KM stopped KM just as much. I knew Crest beating us 56-8 would be compared to 15-0. Both teams have good defense but KM offense looks better. If you want to go to the comparisons that do not matter. Crest lost to Huss who lost to Stuart Cramer. KM dominated both. See what I mean.

Sorry we didn’t live up to your expectations DBD lol. Gone for the season RB D Pryor, WR Ty Hosch, LB S Spikes, DB O Ross, DL C Richardson all starters and we hope to get back OL W Langford, OL L Bowen... We simply did the best we could with a lot of backups

I know someone said Crest isn't as good as last year...Maybe that's true athletically speaking. However I'd take this team over last years team anyday. Or maybe what I should say is I'd take coach Eddins over the last guy anyday. Not that I have any hate towards Clark at all...like I said I'm not depth enough to know what went wrong with him but the kids just seemed to quit on him. Especially in that West Rowan game.

My point is Eddins has done really well to have such a depleted team with injuries, to credit him even more, Crest is only a mistake or two away from dropping the South Point loss and reporting as a potential number one seed in the playoffs, obviously that's not knowing the outcome of the KM game. A lot of people forget, Crest lost to ACR and SP both defending state champs and Ashbrook by 3 points Coach Barnes first year in 2010....just think about that for a second.

As for Crest vs KM...

KM is the clear favorites. They're scoring 38 ppg while only giving up 13 points I think.

Crest on the other hand is only scoring 31 ppg and giving up close to 17 ppg

Crest has homefield advantage and a stronger non conference schedule but Crest is so banged up it's gonna be tough to hang with KM, not to mention KM has their Offense figured out. While I feel Crest is definitely better than say week 3, I still think Crest is trying to figure this offense out.

If the Kings Mtn qb is completely healthy I will say 28 to 14 KM.I also want to give some credit to the Crest qb who also is playing some good football.Should be a good one.

Should be good atmosphere for sure. Crest usually finds ways to win over the last few years with most teams they play, KM over the last few years has found ways to lose. Talent is about equal Id say. KMs Zanders could be the difference in the game for the Chargers. Although if Im KM, that just adds fuel to an already stoked fire. Im gonna make an early prediction and say Crest 28 KM 24. Coaching wins this one

Whatsoever is one word moron. Burns totally sucks, is three. You don’t even have players we want. That’s how bad you suck.

A few weeks ago I was looking at the future games and had KM winning 28-20. Crest does look like they are finding a bit of a groove, so I am narrowing the spread. I still think KM wins 24-20. After all this is a Cleveland County game.

Oh snap! The G.o.a.t. made a brief appearance.
But I am glad y'all happy with the coach. I herd so much negativity last year and after the hire that I'm glad that the coach is actually coaching well and the fans like him. Every game I went to of crest last year the fans were saying some ruff things about coach Clark but it was funny to sit back and watch.

Aww how sweet! Crest beats Burns again and he finally shows up. Where were you when Hunter Huss beat you? I am here for one reason and it works. Burns vs Crest was 1 boring *** thread and then what happened. Don’t give me that we don’t want them crap. We have had two already contacted. KM beats Shelby Crest by 10

Should be a good one for a conference title. Probably favor KM going in.
I do not predict scores or who will win I personally believe this game is a toss up, the team that execute the best and do not turn over the ball should win but strange things can happen in a game like this, win or lose the young MOUNTAINEERS have a very good season hope for no injuries on either side need to stay healthy for the playoffs.

Breaking it down...

Crest Offense v. KM Defense- KM
KM Offense v. Crest Defense- Toss Up. If the Kings Mountain QB is healthy then they get the edge.
Special Teams- Toss Up

If the KM offense can play like it's capable of playing this game shouldn't be close. Yes, Crest is dangerous but I don't see their offense capable of exploding like Kings Mountain. Crest QB has a HUGE arm, but does he have enough weapons? Can both defenses pressure the QB's into mistakes?

When it gets down to it I think this game will be won on the offensive line and special teams. Which OL is going to be able to open up holes and give their QB time? What kicker is going to be able to put the opponent starting on the 20 or change field position? Driving 80 yards is a huge deal in HS football.

If Burns can hold KM to 15 points, Crest has the ability to do the same if not better. The injuries and losses of certain players on Crest side of things could result in a pretty convincing L for the Chargers.

The key for this game is just try to avoid at all cost the loss of anymore key players...it's playoff time and Crest needs a good seed to keep the streak alive in first round games...

Anybody know the longest streaks in the playoffs for first round games among teams in NC? Just curious.

Rockstrong, I have to disagree with your comment above in red. I doubt KM will light up the Crest defense regardless of capabilities. The Crest D held South Point to 22 points and Shelby to 21. Both those O's are better than KM.
Having seen both Crest and KM play this year, I think the game will be a close one with score being in the 24-21 range.

I think the game was at Crest last year. I guess with realignment they ignore previous years home and away schedule. Need an AD to explain how that works.

I can see your point. I would argue that South Point was game one and that they weren't at full steam yet, and honestly I don't think the Shelby offense is as dynamic as it has been in years past. KM has an offense that can do whatever they want to you when the QB is healthy. Run it down your throat with a big bruising back or let their skill guys get behind your secondary. If KM is able to run the ball effectively on Friday night, I think it opens up their passing game even more. Hypothetical, but if KM was to play South Point this year I'd pick the Mountaineers.

Best of luck to both squads.

Kinda off topic but I had no clue there was a documentary film on Crest. Stumbled on to this looking for something else.
Interesting history.

Good film on a magical season.....It was very classy to feature one of their fallen teammates. I found one thing somewhat odd- it was referred to several times that the playoff win over WC was the "first ever.' However, it was not. Crest beat WC in 1987 at their place 17-13 and also beat them a couple times in the early 80s....Even Coach Stewart says it was the first ever and he coached that 87 team.

I came back last year for the Burns game. I’ll come back next year too. Burns will still suck. I mean we suck but there is a difference to the level of suck between the two schools. We have a down year and still drag the pups like an old ho who didn’t have our money and still play for the conference title. You have a bad year and no one notices. You have no clue “whatsoever “ that I’m simply better at this than you.
