Hey, got the W against the clowns! Go Hawks!

Listening to Kirk, he always has pretty standard phrases or quotes on things... what are some of your favorites?

Any reference to 80s is always a gem.

Love me some KF!

I'll start....

"Quite frankly..."

“Condescending Snort”

And btw, I’m a huge KF fan.

edit: and thought I’d add a serious answer - which also prob explains why I’m a big fan.

1) love when he talks about the character of the great players from his tenure at Iowa. That is not often true of other schools, and when KF says it, you know he means it.

2) not a quote, but how the heII does he stay so even keeled - doesn’t let the team or himself get too high or too low. Crazy, because as a fan I (we??) are all over the place!!

"Back in 1980..."
He claims to remember the 1980s under Hayden Fry, yet his approach to offensive football couldn't be further removed from the Fry approach. A psychologist would have fun discovering what that's all about.

Maybe, after time in the NFL and elsewhere, he's developed his own thoughts on what he thinks will work best within his range of comfort?

'We aren't sexy...'.etc

I looked this one up to get it right...

“Bob Sanders wasn’t the biggest guy coming out of Erie, Pa., but I don’t think anybody would dispute that he was a pretty good player for us.”
His best Bob Sanders quote was something along the lines of, "Having Bob on our team was like bringing your big brother to a street fight." Always loved that analogy.

Not sure if my favorites but I do laugh sometimes at the consistency of them.
"First of all, just really proud of our football team."
"First of all, hats of to XXX. They have a heck of a football team."

Reporter - "Coach, seems like you have settled on Hank Brown as starting QB, or would you say the competition with Jeremy Hecklinski is still open?"

KF - "Yeah, you know, those things.....30-35 years ago I was on Hayden's staff and went on a recruiting visit to Indiana to meet with a young man and had a layover in the airport where I ran into Tony Dorsett and we got to talking about things and you know, just a great man and even better person."

Reporter - "so Hank is the guy?"

KF - "you didn't hear me say that, I think its still open, great players both and even better people. I think back about 30 years ago working in Cleveland and Coach Belichick had a saying about "some guys think they're great...." or something like that. Reminds me about my first year here and man, it was a hell of a year, just couldn't win but we were gradually improving and I was in the AD's office, Bob, a really smart man but a better person and you know, how those things worked out that got me back here in Iowa City, I dunno, I don't give that much headspace but I can appreciate the question."
