K-State choked against TCU and Tulane.
Tulane, yes. Unexplainable.

TCU took out both AMart and Howard. (They also took out QBs in three prior games.) The second half was left to a third string QB and the team fell apart. Had either of them played, the outcome would have been different as hopefully is tested and proved in the championship game rematch.

Tulane is easily explained. He started and didn’t yank Martinez.

This is a good example of Kade Warner executing the perfect block. Catching the ball is maybe 5% of what a good wide receiver will do during a game.

"was" being the operative word. the better team doesn't always win.

see: SEC championship and National Championship from last year
Scoreboard. Tulane played KSU within a week or so of playing Southern Miss.

don't care, because the premise for your argument is stupid, which begs the question of whether you are as well.

Kansas State is ranked #13 at 6-2, while we're currently 3-5, staring at 3-6 in a couple days.

you slobber over Bill "7-6" O'Brien then get up in arms over Klieman losing to teams with a combined record of 15-1.

I would be very, very happy with his hire, but he's tied at the hip with the Ad, ain't going nowhere. Book it.
I don't think that's true, at all. Here's what Kleiman said about current KSU AD Gene Taylor:
Gene's my guy. I love Kansas State. I love being here.
What do you expect him to say? "Eh, my boss is alright. City kinda sucks but it'll do for now." He could've easily said "I'm not interested at all, Gene and I are a package deal" but he didn't.

There is not a single coach of a middle-tier program that isn't available to a sleeping giant like Nebraska for the right price. Klieman's current salary is $3.5mil, and bumps up to $4.3mil in 2023 per the extension he signed a month ago.

Nebraska can quite easily double that, and its debatable that his path to the CFB playoff will be easier as well.

Think of it in terms of your current job. Let's say you make $100,000/year, and your boss is pretty cool. Then you get an offer to do the exact same job in a nicer city for $220,000. You'd make in 10 years at the new offer what you'd make in over 20 at your current job, and you'd be considered a legend for it.

Klieman is a home-run hire being delivered at Trev's feet.

How is Klieman “being delivered at Trev’s feet.”? He has a very good relationship with his AD going back to NDSU and he just signed a contract extension with a significant pay increase.
Again, how is he being delivered at Trev’s feet and who is doing the delivering?
It would be insanity to offer an $8 million contract to Klieman. Absolute insanity.

calm down buddy, its just an expression meaning to convey he's proving himself worthy and is about a 45 minute flight away. this "big" extension you're talking about is pennies, Liberty is paying their coach more.

and no, it wouldn't be insanity, despite what your boomer-tier intuition tells you. Mike Gundy is making $7.5mil, Brent Venables is making $7mil, both of whom Klieman thoroughly outcoached. it took Miami $8mil to poach Cristobal from Oregon, and he is a Miami alumnus.

We just threw $7.5mil out the window to get a two week head start on the coaching search, money is not going to be the issue with the next hire.

Pretty crazy that KState film is being broken down on our board.

Klieman is at the top of my leaderboard. Increase his talent level and he's got us rolling.

Again, he owes KState nothing. They should be happy for the memories.

Gene Taylor is the major reason he is in Manhattan and he will make sure he pays him enough keeping him.

I’m wanting this guy. I think he’s the best fit for us. I don’t have NC expectations because it takes a bit to get there. Like continued success for 5-10 years

That's just a tiny piece of the puzzle.
Nebraska has...
1) big time stadium
2) history and legacy
3) way more dollas for facilities, recruiting, staff
4) top 2 conference and media payout.

KState has a ceiling. This year, right now, is their top. Bill Snyder almost broke through, but never could, and they sure as hell couldn't sustain it. They're a nice story. Nothing more

Why didn’t you list Willie Fritz at Tulane, making $1.9 million, outcoaching Klieman?
In your response, you write “he’s proving himself worthy” so by your own admission, Klieman is not a proven commodity.
Because “money is not going to be the issue with the next hire” does not mean we should just throw it away. Anything more than a $5.5 million offer to Klieman would be throwing money away. Offering $8 million to Klieman is insanity.

Not slobbering over O’Brien. I’ve just pointed out his positives. As KSU’s season has progressed I’ve said that Kleiman has been impressive this year His resume is a little thin though compared to O’Brien. O’Brien won at PSU under unimaginable conditions and sanctions. He managed to keep bringing in classes filled with 4 star future NFL players during that time and put great O and D lines on the field.

Kleiman took over a national championship FCS team and kept it going until bailing for KSU. NDSU while getting squeaked by by SDSU has kept it rolling without Kleiman. SDSU is loaded with experienced All-American talent this year

It’s a great argument to call somebody stupid. Wins the debate every time.

The problem with saying “increase his talent” is that he’s not a dynamic recruiter. His staffs have been great at development but he’s not going to bring in top 15 classes at NU. Definite upgrade to Frost from an organization and development standpoint. He might have the best backup QB in the country right now

Martinez was recruited by his woman.
nebraska is not going to hire a "dud" name like klieman or leipold. neither one recruits all that well. being a good coach is not enough.
neb thinks of themselves as a bigger program, despite the reality they would lose to many smaller programs, and that will impact the coaching hire significantly. its going to be a name
