Will the Knicks hire Rick Pitino? He has received endorsements from Dick Vitale and Seth Greenberg.

Well we shall see? It is RP country in NY.
Actually he's from the Boston area and they don't like people from Boston in NY. He doesn't care about that stuff for sure though. Still, I doubt Dolan is dumb enough to hire Rick Pitino for a second time.

IMO he would be a great hire. No matter what you think of him personally he's a hell of a basketball coach and it would get people talking about the Knicks again.

Pitino was born in New York City and lived there until he went college at UMass. He is ALL about NYC.
Born in NYC, but grew up farther out in Oyster Bay. I remember his stories about his high school days at St. Dominic's out there.

A motivated Rick with a young roster?

He’s coached in 2 different eras of NBA. He’s a winner. I want Rick back and it’ll be go Knicks if he lands there.

He'd be a great hire as a college basketball coach. It will be interesting to see if an AD jumps on the backlash grenade. The clock is kind of ticking on that.

The Knicks are a total disaster I really don't even know if he'd be interested in sitting there and losing 60+ games a couple years before being fired. It's arguably the worst job in the NBA right now.

Ricks window for coaching again is getting smaller. He loves coaching young men so much that losing is not even a thought, plus he still has an ego. He wants to go out on his terms. Right now colleges won’t take a chance on him

I would definitely follow the Knicks if they hired him. I cannot see any NCAA school hiring him. He’s almost certainly going to get a lengthy show cause penalty from the NCAA for UofL’s involvement with Adidas to pay Bowen.

Agree. 100%. But hanging around in the NBA a couple years before an inevitable parting of ways isn't his terms.

His terms would be finishing up on the college level, but it doesn't seem anyone is willing to give him that shot.

As message board agent for. him, I suggest we look @ becoming an assistant for an NBA franchise on the rise, where he can hang around for years teaching players what he knows.

I think at some point a college might take a chance on Pitino but maybe not until all of the potential NCAA fallout is behind him. He could still be hit with a long show cause that would effectively end his college coaching days.

I don’t see CRP as an assistant to anybody at this point in his career nor do I think he should have to settle for that.

If he's hired before the show-cause is issued, then it won't be a problem. It is not retroactive.

True, but most schools would not want the negative publicity of having their head coach sanctioned by the NCAA while in their employ. The mere expectation that the show-cause will happen is going to keep all but the most desperate schools from hiring him.
