Dear god this is insane! And the timing, because Lebron passed him in all time points last night.

is this the most tragic death in sports history? Maybe Dale Earnhardt..

I’m still in shock. When they first said something about it during the Pro Bowl I was like wait what then ABC News interrupted the game with a special report and during that report they mentioned that it’s believed that his daughters were on the helicopter with him but it hasn’t been confirmed.

Horrible horrible news. It just shows you don’t know how much time you have here. I had a friend at work that died about a month before he was set to retire. When that happened, that’s when I started really beating down on trying to get set for retirement as soon as I could because you just don’t know how long you have to enjoy it. Life is WAY too short

Well Dale Earnhardt didn’t play any sports. This certainly has to be the most surprising death to the biggest sports icon, ever.

Damn. Hearing conflicting reports about how many, if any, daughters were on board. Terrible terrible tragedy no matter what

OMG. I'm stunned with this horrible news. One of the true legends. RIP Kobe (& others on board), and may God bless your wife and children.

EDIT: Now I'm hearing a daughter (one?) was onboard also...if true, even more terrible. May God bless everyone.

I grew up with Lebron. Wasn’t the biggest Kobe fan, but always respected him for his game and mentality. He was a savage. Wild that after all the years of the Lebron vs Kobe argument, the day after Lebron passes him on the scoring list, he’s gone. His last tweet was to Lebron congratulating him and telling him to keep the game moving forward. Almost eerie.

I remember when Dale Earnhardt Sr. died and a big impact that had on the racing world. Kobe's death reaches out to much more masses than Earnhardt with all due respect to Dale. Kobe also is one of the few pepple who by hearing his 1st name only everyone knew who you were speaking of. Elvis and Tiger all others. Even when you say "Michael" or "MJ" you could be talking about Michael Jordan or Jackson. OFC
