We all knew he was going to get a Georgia offer. The kid is legit. Doesn't matter though. The reason the Baylor's, TCU's and Oregon's ultimately rose to the top was because they pulled in kids that the elite schools wanted. Have to keep kids like this. Stoops' days are numbered. Especially if he brings in Locksley.

Guess this is why they're pursuing Pringle so hot and heavy. Woulda been nice to have had both Pringle and Smith. No such luck, UK has rotten luck with DL.

I hasten to add Brumbaugh has been here 3 years and will soon have 4 guys in the NFL. On the contrary, he'll likely be difficult to hold on to.

And I hasten to add that those guys made it to the NFL despite their position coach. There is a reason UK had to pluck him from a junior college.

Next man up.

Gotta coach them up.

Want guys who want to be here.
"Gotta coach the up" Such a stupid term, I dont give a shiit if vince lombardi is the coach, if they have marginal talent, you are going to have a marginal player. PERIOD!

Not good. Not good at all. Kobe Smith was a critical need at a critical position. It is very unlikely we'll be able to find anyone with even remotely the sort of upside Smith had. And unfortunately, a critically weak position on our roster will continue to remain weak. We just can't seem to catch a freaking break with finding good DTs. So frustrating.

Smith is a huge loss... No way to sugar coat it. But, Pringle does have a lot of potential. It's now very critical that UK land him. Also UK needs to land Provitt next year too. Provitt is likely the best of the 3, IMHO.

No such thing as catching a break. You keep these recruits if you show you can win games. Stoops has not. It's an extremely bad sign that after 3 years he hasn't pulled off even one major upset. I don't count a barely .500 South Carolina team as major. You won't always be better than them but you will catch good teams at times when they are vulnerable. You have to be able to seal the deal on at least one of them. Miss State or Tennessee in year one, Florida or UL in year 2 or Georgia or Florida or Auburn this past year. All were better teams but vulnerable. That coupled with some bad losses such as Western and Vandy and you get decommits. You can't keep saying that we will win those games when we are more talented that Georgia or Florida because we never will be. You have to be able to pull off the upset sooner or later. In most cases if you haven't done that at least once by year 3 you never will. The surge of positivity from Stoops' hiring is gone now. He will get recruits or lose them based on results from here on. It's not a matter of waiting until we catch up. If we aren't winning the talent gap will start growing again.

This is just one decommitt but it is probably one that hurts as much as any. I hope all of the predictions of this recruiting class falling apart don't come true because that is really all Stoops has to show right now. Two late season collapses in a row and two recruiting classes jumping ship at the end would be a really bad sign.

It is my understanding Smith was a high priority target for Muschamp after he was hired by the Gamecocks.

Unfortunately, South Carolina is a fairly short drive from his home. It's a lot closer than Lexington.

If that was the case then someone like Ron Zook would have a couple of national titles right now. Coaching does play a part in success. . If we don't have a coach that can "coach up" some of the players then we might as well go home because we are going to have a lot more marginal talent than the big boys. I agree that you can't win with a bunch of Rudy's running around, but if you are not at one of the traditional powers you better be able to coach some marginal talent up.

In saying that you have to keep the talent you have committed.

lol. i told you guys 3 games into the season this staff didnt have a clue, so i guess im not

Your post is unpopular but I couldn't agree more. Most everyone posting on the football board at this point in the basketball season are pretty diehard football fans (and I respect that) but they don't want to see negative posts. Stoops IS 'clueless' as you say and he'll flail away aimlessly for 1-2 more years and leave as a filthy rich man while becoming an assistant at another school. I have to admit that he fooled me too..... not any more.

Gonna be hard to hold on to some of them. Stoops knows his job is on the line. Fear this might be the first domino.

Weird.

I wonder why all our recruits don't just do that?

Why do we even have coaches, if all they do is hold them back? You need to get to mitch ASAP with your theory.

LOL

Some people wanna jump off a bridge over one de commit lol. Kobe smith is a loss but a lot of teams have a de commit or two. Its not uncommon. This Pringle kid the staff is after looks like a stud as well, hopefully we get him.

PERFECT EXAMPLE why schools like UK need to have excellent offenses and be able to score lots of points because they are going to have to...when MS is replaced PLEASE no more DC on ojt!!!!!!

Nope, not as bad as Leavitt for next year. Not as bad as Young for the next four years,, and Jackson isn't far behind, probably end up calling signals for a very talented OL. Our other four star not as much, we have some very good talent there, and probably will continue to recruit it very well.

I never thought he ended up here, kid can't make up his mind so he has people make it up for him. You can never have too many DT's, but we will be fine.
