We’re drawing this conclusion during a bowl game where we are missing some of our best players, playing a true freshman at qb and making multiple coaching transitions?
This disconnect absolutely staggers me. Thie roster is Rhule's responsibility. The staff is Rhule's responsibility. Winning is his job. That's what the 87 million dollars is for.

It is an exception because head coaches (much like firemen) have done this AMAZING job of telling everyone how ******* hard the job is and how ******* long it takes to change the culture and build a program and fans eat it up, see iowa, for 25 years their coach has been telling them how hard it is to win games and their fans jerkoff over what he does, which is nothing.

Cigs came in and said what other coaches won't and they clearly all know coach speak "It takes a long time, the last guy left a mess, we are building something special here". In other words, I know I won't win so I am going to do my best to buy time.

Cigs came in and said he was going to win and that is what he has done. There was no crying and bitching.
You still have one example. It shows it is very rare. Not sure what argument you are even making.

Kong isn’t the only person on this board who has said this. Heck, I did not even watch the game. I knew it would be a blowout. What is the score now anyway? 97-14?
Rhule is a lousy coach.

You saved yourself some time. I watched till the first drive of the second half. After that I have no idea what happened. Like you I don't even know the final score.

I don't blame Rhule at all for all the BS he spews. He wants to keep his job. I get it.

That weird iowa coach convinced his fans that they should be happy winning 7 games and their fans bought it and 25 years later they are still ******* lame.

luckily, We want more and we demand more. The coaches that trev COULD have went after...

It is sick to think how bad trev messed up.
Yes, you are really lucky

Nothing will change. Stadium is full every fall. They are making money. The admin does not care about the win/loss record
Correct. The decision to extend Coach Rhule was made by Dr Gold, recommended by AD Dannen, I would assume approved by the Board of Regents. They don’t want to go through the headache of another Head Coach Change. The buyout now makes Moving On from Coach Rhule cost prohibitive. Dr Gold and AD Dannen are there til retirement.

100% they would have...at first.

Our fanbase not only would have discredited him and everything he has done but they would hate HATED that he did not want to French kiss the fans.
You should dig up all the old threads where you were calling for him to be hired

His agent played Neb like a fiddle. PSU was never interested in him. Thats called brotherhood to get your friends paid. Brilliant move by Rhule’s management team.
You would know, it is what your coach and former AD did for years!

For the last ten years, I've had the misfortune to be both a Husker fan and, also, a Bronco fan. Remember when the Broncos traded for Russell Wilson? In 2026 they will finally be completely out of that disaster. Only point is, both teams were trash for, like, ten years; the Broncos could very well vie for the SB this year. I think MR is a good coach, with a long-term plan that could work at NU, but I gotta see something. I mean, could it really be just Sean Payton in Denver?

It's almost like when you lose your starting QB your season goes down the sh!tter. Not too many teams can lose their starting QB and all-american Rb and think they actually have a chance. Some of you are really shirt sighted.
A lot of teams winning bowl games with backup qbs

If you would have told me in my childhood in the 90's that not a single coach or player on the Nebraska Cornhuskers would be good enough to play or coach for Indiana in 2025 I would have laughed in your face. Well folks here we are.

I am not kidding our leadership is so bad at this point I'd rather let gemini, grok, or chatGPT make future decisions regarding this football program.

We used to have a not true freshman at QB.

His name was Jeff Sims.

Man did he suck while he was here.

Man did he not suck this season under a different staff.
He was pretty much the same guy with 2 more years of experience. I was watching one of their games this fall and he looked exactly the same but their O line was better than what he played behind at NU. He was running in the wide open and just dropped the ball in the open field. Threw multiple picks. Then he would run for a chunk of yards. Turnover machine. I would rather have Chubbba or Haarberg.

We’re pot committed. No going back now.
No we aren't. In the last 20 years we fired a coach that just went to the NC game, we fired a coach that averages over 9 wins a year, we fired the beloved former QB...Rhule is not even close to untouchable and Troy didn't hire him, which makes it even easier to get rid of him.

Rhule is going to be gone after next season.
