Now, of course, Feinstein has little use for Calipari. And he seems generally approving of Pitino, although he says little about him so it's hard to say for sure. So it was interesting to me when I came across a column a few months ago, forgot where or even why I was looking, that Feinstein wrote around the time that Cal's UMass team was playing the '96 Cats. You will find this hard to believe, but at that time, Calipari was the good guy, full of energy and vigor and doing a masterful coaching job with his outmanned squad. And Pitino wore the black hat, with his bullying UK team. That was close to 20 years ago, so maybe the two men have changed and Feinstein's opinions on each has changed as well. But it was pretty easy to get the idea that, as far as Feinstein is concerned, whomever is coaching UK is a bad guy......Unless it's Tubby, who could conveniently be used as a club to beat UK fans with.......
