I don't really listen to the show. Instead I listen to the KSR Podcasts, Sources Say (basketball) and 11 Personnel (football). They're decent, come out often enough for me, and the guys that do them are much more likeable than Matt. Could be a better option for you, @Blue63Madison.
I don’t listen to the show unless I am on the road and there is nothing else, but it is odd to me that anyone would shame or attack someone who has an opinion about KSR. If you have a differing opinion, state it. Your opinion does not make you better and someone else’s taste for radio entertainment does not make them worse. Such an odd social media reaction.
We would not have any criminal statute or tax incentive or most legislation if people did not legislate morality. It’s as if Matt did not go to law school.
But citing morality for legislating dumb stuff like spots gambling (where in Kentucky some forms of gambling are legal, others are not) or prohibition of a certain plant is archaic and stupid.
I find it interesting the party of “personal liberty” only wants me to have the “personal liberty” the telepathic genie they talk to agrees with even though I don’t talk to the genie.
Murder? Bad. Any decent human can agree
Rape? Also bad. Any decent human can agree
Betting on basketball? Not very bad
Selling alcohol on Sunday or period in the case of one of Kentucky’s remaining dry counties? Not very bad
Smoking marijuana? Not very bad
I love when people point to their moral judgments as being good and something any “decent human” can agree upon, but then point to others’ opinions as “archaic” and “stupid.” Gambling, drugs, alcohol are all incredibly corrosive and destructive to many people. You don’t agree that legislation should focus on that, but others do. It’s not archaic or stupid. It’s just not correct to you.
Some people think the moral judgments about tax credits and tax breaks are not good for the economy or government. Others disagree. Some people believe welfare should be expanded, while others think the current form of welfare traps generations is poverty and reliance upon the government. Some people deny life begins at conception while others think abortion is murder. Some don’t deny life, but still support a person’s right to end the life.
Conclusory ad hominem statements about others’ beliefs is not convincing. Better to make your case for your beliefs.
I think what he was frustrated with is one man wouldn’t even let sports gambling go to a vote. That is horrible.
Just let the masses vote on it.
Or let the individual counties put it up for a vote. If it passes in those counties like Jefferson let those counties keep the proceeds.
