They deserve the lions share of the credit for last night’s win. Though we were staked to a very early 17-0 lead, we weren’t even halfway through the first quarter. Our offense vanished for most of the rest of the game so the D had to hold A&M’s offense in check for a long time, with no support from the offense.
And they held up. It seemed for the longest time like A&M was on the cusp of taking the lead, but they held up. The only touchdown they allowed in the second half was after they had forced a punt but were then kneecapped by the offense coughing the ball up deep in our own territory.
It was a tense game, and I honestly had a sense of dread just waiting for the defense to cave and let A&M take the lead.
