Only team down double digits today at the half in all SEC games. Only team that was not competitive in 2nd half of all SEC games today(game was never in doubt for 30 minutes). Only team that has players who were recruited for a particular offense that clearly can't execute that offense because of their skill set(coach's fault). Only coach that has teams that have lost to same school 4 consecutive times in the storied history of the program.

We are on a downward trajectory. Not competing against Bama will hurt us in March. But its a two-way street. Lets say the sec conf is winning a lot of games this year, Bama could lose some close games to other sec teams....Not saying we are #1. Far from it. If our standards are different from other schools, then Coach Pope may be on the hot seat. But really give the guy 5 years....see what can happen for him. Dont be saying he needs to be fired now. He's got better character than some coaches we've had. Its either good character vs win games at all costs... Just be happy Coach Pope is stable, or so it seems.
5 yrs 🫣. Win or go home at UK. Pope knew the expectations. Besides, coaches get extra compensation for failing to meet standards. College athletics are on a horrible trajectory.

Tubby had character and would beat Pope 7 out of 10 times. In 5 years he will have us worse than IU.
Tubby had so much character that he started his dreadful son at PG, made a laughing stock out of us and then left out the side door for Minnesota instead of getting better assistants like he was asked to do.
And yet never missed the tournament. Not once. Making him the ONLY Kentucky Men's Basketball coach EVER to do that.
I trade Pope for Tubby in a heartbeat right now.
5 yrs? In THIS era of college athletics? High character? Seriously? IDGAF about his character. You want high character, stick to your church league team. That kind of junk is why we are in the situation we are now. We’ve got a high character nice guy. And he’s getting his ish handed to him by anyone with a pulse.
Lashing out at guys like Tom Leach doesn’t sound very stable to me. If Pope cannot handle the heat from a little bit of adversity imagine him coming back next year if he misses the tournament. I question any man’s sanity if they didn’t throw in the towel with the amount of hype he gave this team and proceeded to “wreck” this so-called Ferrari.

Good lord!!! What is the arguement for giving him 5 years? You can turn a program around in 1 season in today’s landscape but you want to give this a 5 year sample? Are you even a UK fan or a rival fan. That’s equivalent of Uk fans telling UofL to give Kenny Payne 5 years. Pope may not be Kenny Payne bad and I think he’s better than he’s showing but the weight of the job has clearly broken him in year 2. He has no clue what he’s doing now, he can’t land a recruit, he has no answers for this team or substitution patterns, poor game preparation and his post game commentary makes even tubby smiths sound exciting and invigorating. Pope needs to be fired, not tomorrow, not after breakfast, but NOW!!!
