announced he’s signing with an agent. What a big turn of events as after all we heard was “they’ll be right back there next year”. Was not expecting them to even lose two let alone all 3 of their stars.

Wouldn't be eligible until 2020-2021. I read on Twitter UVA is the leader for them. Makes sense.

Thats interesting....UVA with some serious roster juggling to do
Guy leaving isnt a surprise...they won the Title so the desire to repeat is less these days...winning one is enough

His decision to leave was probably made easier knowing his 2 other horses are leaving.
Go out on top.

Marquette is a god awful defensive team and has been for several years. Would be an interesting match if those two transfer to UVA.

Really didn’t even see the whole possibly returning. Just got a notification saying he was signing with an agent so i got my hopes up. But honestly he should go now. Stock has never been higher, his two teammates/leaders are leaving, and another thing is he’s already engaged. I know that sounds weird to say but I’m sure they’re ready to get some money and finally go through with it. This is all wishful thinking though cause i don’t wanna see him play against duke again lol

I’m shocked. I knew Hunter was gone but I kind of expected Jerome to stay, didn’t think Guy would even consider leaving. They both just felt like 4-year kinda guys to me.

Just like us in 2015. Enter the draft when you're hot. Can't blame them and if I"m a UVA fan, I'll endure the losses and bask in the championship. Has to help recruiting in the future to have a few guys get drafted. Wouldn't be shocked to see Diakite go, and wouldn't be unhappy either.

He has nothing else to gain by staying. His draft stock won’t rise and I doubt they win the title back to back

This. It’s one thing if he was a sophomore and knew there were two seasons left to rebuild....but watching your two best friends depart and coming off a national championship? Well, it might not promise a long NBA career, but you go out on top and will always live in UVA basketball lore.

I want Kyle Guy on the Wolves as a 2nd rounder. Seems like a guy who will just have a nice long NBA career knocking down corner threes. (and he would possibly by the end of year 1 be the best 3 pt shooter in Wolves history...as they've almost never had a real good one)

Also, as someone mentioned, I wouldn't be shocked if Diakite tests the waters and finds them very warm as he is a very nice prototype big for the current NBA schemes. Run the floor, block shots, pnr D, catch lobs.

I just think Guy's size is going to be a hindrance for him in the NBA. But I've been wrong plenty before.

As for Diakite, I agree. He's been the missing story for UVA, IMO. Everyone talks about Guy, Hunter and Jerome (rightly so), but what put them over the top was the move to Diakite in the starting lineup and giving him more minutes. He's a talented big who does all the things you listed very well.

Diakte just declared. Man they are losing way more than I could have imagined.
Duke might end up being the favorite to win the ACC next year. I thought UVA would be the favorites, but if all of these guys stay in the draft, then I could see us being the favorite to go back to back in the ACC.

It’s going to be interesting seeing how many of these guys (not just from UVA, but everywhere) stay in the draft. The numbers might be a little skewed because of the new rules, but I think the dynamics are changing even more than many of us think.

I agree. I knew the new rule change would obviously change things. I didn't think it would be like this. Especially this quick.

I like Kyle Guy. I like all the UVA kids. I was glad to see them win though I had a heart for TT b/c of the way they play. But, I have no animosity toward them and wish them the best.

That said, I don't think that was a good move for Guy. Why?

He's not going to be drafted in the 1st round. He's going to have to make a team on his own. That is mind-boggling.

Certainly, Hunter should have left. Not Guy.

I really don't like that trend at all.

So glad to see that Tre, who would had a much better shot at being a 1st round pick, decided to stay another year.

I do not think for one second that Virginia will be weak. Tony can coach and I expect them to finish in the top 3 of the ACC once again

Bennett can coach, but if they lose all 4 of those guys they are going to struggle. They'll still play great team D, but the offense won't be there.

I just don’t see how how Guy improves his draft stock by coming back. It’s not like he is going to grow 2-3”. He is what he is. A great shooter with clutch tendencies. He will catch on somewhere and likely have a long career in the NBA.

I think it's a wise move for Guy to leave. He was in a perfect position on this UVA team, didn't need to handle the ball, could always guard the opponent's weakest link.
Put him on UVA's team next year where he is the only "star" and his weaknesses would be glaring. He isn't a ball-handler and can't guard.
This at least allows him a chance at the NBA when his stock is the highest. My guess: he is in the G-league for a year or 2 and then is an overseas monster scorer.

Bennett would have a winning record with five guys from intramurals. He made the tournament at Washington State. I look forward to seeing the magic he performs next year
