Take the college game anytime, no comparison! OFC
Not even close. Of course it doesn't help being born and bred in the heart of ACC country. College hoops is instilled in your life early in North Carolina and if you like living at home with mom and dad you better choose wisely who you pull for. LOL

I hear ya Hart. It's not even close for me. I couldn't tell ya the last time I watched even two mins of an NBA game. To each his own I guess. I would watch South Dakota State play IUPUI before I would any NBA game.

There's aspects of the college game I enjoy more, and there's aspects of the NBA game I think are better than college. On this forum, I would expect most people to skew college. For me, I think it just matters on the day.

Take last night, for example. I'm a long-suffering Wolves fan....which, in short, means there's not a lot to get me excited. But they've made some changes, they're young and they're exciting. When Wiggins hit that shot in OKC last night at the buzzer I set my personal-best vertical leap record. The only other time I was close is when Austin daggered the Heels. :D

I don’t mind the association. I don’t have a squad and really just find myself pulling for our guys whenever they are on. I appreciate the level these guys are at- guys like Westbrook are must watch tv when he is on. So last night was awesome tv. But I’m college all day if we could only have one.

The NBA has always been my favorite league to watch. I understand the argument about the regular season being too long and it being predictable. But there is just so many exciting things that happen on a night to night basis.

It's amazing because the players literally control the league, Lebron is the most powerful person in the league. Followed by Durant, Curry, etc. The same can't be said for any other sport. I don't know, I just think it's refreshing to see something where the old rich suits don't have all the power.

Agreed!

Don't get me wrong, I love college basketball more, but NBA is right there all because of everything you mentioned.

Until I'm an owner, I cherish any league that gives the power to the players. We're all employees and I would love to have the power they have.

I’d like to make the money those players do...but I don’t think 15-20k people will be plopping down their paychecks to watch me do my job 82 Times a year.

To an older guy like myself the game will never hold the mystique it had when the Pros literally played hurt, less teams made the playoffs and the regular season meant much more. Thats my Association...

Just the opposite for me. I grew up very close to Clemson, and football rules where I am from. I don't remember anyone EVER even talking about basketball when I lived there. I didn't start watch BB until I moved to Ky

Better than the NFL. 4 hours of commercials and blathering by two old white dudes. There's only 11 minutes of live ball action. It's mind numbingly boring. The commercials are clearly geared towards slow thinkers too.

Hey now, Romo has been amazing.

Thats my problem w/the NBA. The players have too much power.

These guys have a talent that pays them multi millions. Then throw in all the endorsements. They have too much power.
Yeah the owners are a bunch of wealthy fat cats with even bigger egos than their bank accounts, but so what.
You find very few people, if any, that get a job from a poor man.

No surprise we disagree. I greatly prefer there be more control in the hands of the players. Their existence makes the NBA more than any other entity. They're the most relevant thing about the NBA.

It's a two way street. The owners need the players, no doubt, but without the owners, the stars would have to settle for being the best players at the local YMCA. These guys are well compensated for their talents, if you don't think so take $10 to the concession stand and see how far that gets you.

THAT is my issue with pro sports and is the main reason I don't go. It's RIDICULOUS. And it's the fans fault because we allow it. If everyone would just take one month and nobody go to a single game, and just make the statement "we aren't paying 5.00 for a bottle of water or 12.00 for a beer", I believe it would change. WE are the ones that are really needed. We have the power to make it affordable for a low income family to be able to go to a game, but we won't excercise it. I make really good money, but I'm still not going to pay 20.00 for a hot dog, drink and bag of chips!!

I wanted to go to the Clemson -Louisville football game here in ky this year, but the cheapest ticket I could find that wasn't in the top corner of the stadium was like 300.00.....bite me.....I watched on TV for the price of my daily cable bill.....and my beer was about a dollar each!!

For the family of 4 that scrapes up enough to go see LeBron play and finds out "oh he's resting tonite," its a bummer. Screw much of the NBA and the egos that go w/it!!

OFC
And the only reason Lebron rests occasionally, is because the greedy owners force the guys to play 82 games. Gotta get that ticket/concession money....

Lower the number of games, Lebron plays a full season, AND would be healthy for the playoffs, which is all he cares about anyway ( AND SHOULD.)

As far as pricing goes, I think the NBA is fair actually. Now you will obviously get a bump in prices for Cavs, Warriors, etc. But the NBA is actually cheaper on average than the NHL and NFL. NCAA prices are just as ridiculous, if not more than the NBA. NCAA makes you pay $150 to sit in the 6th deck of a football stadium where you need binoculars to watch the game.

Dont see season getting shortened. Owners need to get their slice of pie from tv, and opening turnstiles that much to be able to afford to pay the mega buck salaries....LeBron and others just need to suck it up....

It just gets under my skin....I know there are other professions you could say the same thing about, but take for example a guy who works for 10.00 an hour. He is making 80.00 a day BEFORE uncle Sam gets his cut....Now take a player making 12,000,000.00 per year....he is making 32,000 a day....it takes the guy making 10.00 an hour almost a year to make what the player makes in ONE DAY....but he still needs to pay almost a week's salary to take his family to a game so that phislamajama can make his 32,000 per day....if all the fans would just boycott for awhile, it would change.....my brother in law is a cop with 3 kids. They LOVE going to basketball games, but on his salary...that he earns by putting his life in danger every single day, he cannot afford to take his kids to see the 20 year olds make in a day what takes him probably 5 or 6 months to make....I know its not the players who make it that way, but I just think it sucks...there would nothing at all wrong with a player only making 500,000 a year instead of 20,000,000, and tickets being more reasonable, and cokes costing the same as what they cost in a vending machine....Sorry! I'll try not to rant anymore!!

Agree with premise but I am a total free market advocate.Unfortunately there is a market that allows them to demand and receive these prices. It sucks but until enough people refuse to pay these prices they will continue to rise

I've always thought the fans could strike and drive the prices down to make it affordable for the average family. What would a good portion of these players be doing if they weren't playing basketball? I bet half of them would play for a $1000 a game. The fans could really take control of these ridiculous salaries and concession prices.

The fans do have control, though. Right now they’re choosing to go and watch in large numbers. If they weren’t, the league would be broke. Free market is a good thing.

Prices are what the market will bear, for the most part. Regularly going to NBA games is not for the average person.

And yes, it's ********, when you look at it on a higher (or lower?) level. They are playing a game. I remember looking at clients bank statements (I was a sports agent for a time) and doing the math at how much they were making per game, per day, per minute of performance, and being just blown away. Insanity.

I agree that the players are well compensated. Relative to the money in the game, they are appropriately well compensated. The comparison is not their salaries to yours or mine; the comparison is their salaries to the owners' profits.

Management/ownership always has some measure of control. Always. It's the "little guy" (again, relatively) who is in danger of being exploited the most.

The owners should have the power. They forked over the money for the franchise and allowed some kid to come play for him. When the player pays for the franchise before he becomes a player, then he too should hold the power.

I for one have no problem other than be jealous about not being talented enough to play about to make the money that they do.When you factor in the fact the limited window they have to earn you could make the argument that they are underpaid. If you compare what the the top roughly 2000 most talented people in the world make in in other multi billion dollar businesses over their careers, but the idea that they have the right to exhibit behavior which hurts the bottom line of the business that pays you is ludicrous. The only color involved here is green. As a small business owner any of my employees who would have been shown the door
