We have got to stop so much dribbling and 1x1 play. Makes us look like all the other teams in top 20
Cardoso left, Watkins got hurt, Tac brings nothing. We've got to have an inside PRESENCE without springing a leak someplace else. This is the most glaring weakness. Everyone who beats us has a strong big. Some of them have two. This is like clemson without a generational QB.
Staley teams have not consistently stressed ball movement in the half-court offense. We have got to stop so much dribbling and 1x1 play. Makes us look like all the other teams in top 20
To answer your question. I believe Uconn is peaking at the right time and they are a premier team.Cardoso left, Watkins got hurt, Tac brings nothing. We've got to have an inside PRESENCE without springing a leak someplace else.
Well, "someplace else" hasn't been looking too swift, either. There is no star, no bell cow anywhere.
UConn is good, but is this one of their premier teams? No one ought to eviscerate us like this in Columbia.
The credibility is gone. It will have to be re-earned. It's unlikely to be recouped this year.
Yes. Time is up for both basketball coaches.Need a new coach, she has obviously lost her ability to coach without super stars. Due to her past years she's not allowed such shortcomings. She's had plenty of time to not let this ever happen.
I hated liking you post, but I belive you are correct.Haven’t been able to say this about Lady Ganecock BB in a long time but I’m flat out embarrassed- Staley got outcoached bad in this game and yes I said that
A leader such as Aliyah Boston is what's missing from the group. Shades of baseball since 2013.Did not see a loss in this manner happening on our home court.
Sadly, not sure it will motivate this group, and we are lacking the horses needed to make it happen.
If we had a real big, I think we would we be fine. Kitts gets pushed around by a true big.Too much parity in WBB right now in the top 10 teams to be comfortable. I still say we get bounced in the Elite 8.
also, it’s clear Dawn needs to adjust from this team by committee approach. We need some bonafide superstars
Agreed. Kitts is very limited offensively. She is a good defender against a small forward. If we had a real big, I think we would we be fine. Kitts gets pushed around by a true big.
And they might be compared to the current batch. But I maintain that they have had more than one team better than this one.To answer your question. I believe Uconn is peaking at the right time and they are a premier team.
Reminiscent of what Iowa did to us in the Final Four two years ago - only worse.I would guess uconn has 30+ points on layups. Dawn has too much pride to shift to a zone. Whatever we are doing isn't working.
Kitts has a beautiful mid-range shot, but that’s it. She’s weak against bigger women, and is good for 8-10 pts on a good night.Agreed. Kitts is very limited offensively. She is a good defender against a small forward.
Wait, Dawn Staley is the WBB Coach? I thought she was the new Coach for the Philadelphia Eagles by how she dresses. Her passion isn’t at Carolina anymore.
So fire her! Reason…I don’t like the way she dresses, she has no USC passion, and she has lost 3 times this year. Almost every school in the nation will be standing in line to hire her.Wait, Dawn Staley is the WBB Coach? I thought she was the new Coach for the Philadelphia Eagles by how she dresses. I think there are one or two she needs to nudge toward the portal…but she appears pretty loyal…not sure she would do that. And I admire loyalty.Nobody wants her fired. When you create huge expectations, you have to live with them.
DS knows what the issues are but does not have the ability to fix it with her current roster.
I hope you’re tongue in cheek here. Otherwise you look like a clownNeed a new coach, she has obviously lost her ability to coach without super stars. Due to her past years she's not allowed such shortcomings. She's had plenty of time to not let this ever happen.
She's our best rebounder.Kitts has a beautiful mid-range shot, but that’s it. She’s weak against bigger women, and is good for 8-10 pts on a good night.
Trying to imitate the Clown posters when they speak of LP.I hope you’re tongue in cheek here. Otherwise you look like a clown
They don't have to do exactly that again if we meet in March.Too much sky is falling energy in this thread. Adversity has hit us somewhat. You are not going to always have dream seasons where everything went right like last year. Our team looks similar to a Super Bowl winner that has gotten a little full of themselves. Still 9-3 against ranked teams and another SEC Title is still in sight if we take care of these last three games. Other programs, UConn especially, have proud traditions too. We have had control of the series for the past 3 years. They really got us this time. However, let's see if they can do it again.
Got it, but we don't need to lose these important games down the stretch worrying about what UConn did. I have gone back and watched that game a couple of times. Everything we failed to do in that game is correctable (Poor shot selection, Short Closeouts, No Blocking Out Whatsoever). Getting beat on the boards by UCLA was understandable. However, this loss was more enlightening. UConn plays small ball. There is no way they should be outrebounding us like that. It's about us. Do we really want to get back or are we satisfied with what we did last year. If we are satisfied, let's keep on doing what we are doing and we won't have to worry about playing UConn again. Could go out in the Sweet 16 playing like this. They don't have to do exactly that again if we meet in March.
I'll hold your thoughtful assessment in abeyance. All I know for certain mathematically is that, between the debacle this past Sunday and the next time we play them this season - if it comes about - they have 28 points to play with and we have to manage a 15-point swing. It could happen, but I'm not feeling too peaceful, much the same as I felt before our latest bowl game.Got it, but we don't need to lose these important games down the stretch worrying about UConn did. Every game is different and many times one game has nothing to do with the next one. For example, the 85 Celtics beat the Lakers by 40 in Game 1 of the Finals and ended up losing on their home floor in 6. Good teams learn from bad losses and correct the issues. Our girls did that in the 5 game stretch of ranked conference teams. It seems that after that stretch they relaxed and have not been able to get it back. Part of it is we have to fix our offense. I know Dawn is loyal, but how much longer can she keep starting Raven and Bree when they are not even being guarded. I have been calling for lineup changes for over a year, but Dawn's the coach.I'll hold your thoughtful assessment in abeyance. Maybe you ought to be the coach. Our lineup vacillations, I'd scarcely call them rotations, have mystified me all year long. None of our most recent transfers have contributed a dime's worth. None of our returnees has developed beyond where they were except Kitts.Every game is different and many times one game has nothing to do with the next one. Exactly. No real yoy improvement and our hoped for”committee” replacement for Kamills had been a great group of tall cheerleaders. This is the conundrum of having a great coach that was a point guard. Dawn as a former great point guard will always tend to be too hard on her guards. In most cases, they can't be her. They can't see what she sees most times. Even with a guard like Fulwiley, who probably has the ability to see the game on Dawn's level, she's overprotective. Just like a parent has to do with a child, a coach has to allow the player to spread their wings a bit. Dawn appears to have a tough time doing that. It's similar to how Spurrier was with his QB's.We were all expecting Kitts, Tessa, Bree, Fulwiley, and Paopao to absolutely dominate this year, and for the most part they’ve been talented pedestrians. It’s odd. My criticism of Dawn is that she’s hampered these players by indoctrinating them into this “collective” approach. It’s almost like no one wants to stand out or take charge. Fulwiley seems like she wants to break out and then Dawn yanks her. We’ll never get players like Hidalgo, or Juju, or Chavez, because they’re superstars, and Dawn doesn’t have patience for stars other than Centers.
Hopefully, Staley is mulling over what many are posting in this thread (whether or not she sees the thread). This is the conundrum of having a great coach that was a point guard.
