LeBron showing up at our game was what 9 years ago? He hasn't had anything to do with us in years. Since then he talks up Coach K and has his agent meeting with Duke recruits. He's definitely not a friend to the Kentucky program.

Lebron has enough mouth for 2 sets of teeth. If he had kep his mouth shut and let us just enjoy his basketball skills, he would be loved. But NO, he had to start flapping his lip and expecting everyone to bow to his way of thinking, so f$$k Lebron. It all started with that hour long special on The Decision.

If only they would have played head to head a few months before the draft so the Lakers could have known for sure who was the better player.

You know not only did Fox smoke Ball in that tourney game, they also drafted Ball while his father was running around acting like a huge tool. That makes that decision even more ignorant.

Is there an all time great athlete that is/was universally loved? If you are the best at what you do - even in the real world - you are going to be hated by some. Human nature and jealousy are tough to overcome.

I used to LOATHE Tiger Woods. Now that he has had so many issues and struggles (and isn't winning majors by 10 strokes), I find myself pulling pretty hard for him.

Not sure how any of that is "mind boggling".

People hate the dominant athletes, they like underdogs. Tiger was hated as the most dominant and greatest golfer of all time. A humiliating personal issue a d his back destroying his game knocked him off his peak. Now he is a has been trying to climb his way back to the top, hard to believe, but Tiger has become an underdog, that's why he is probably more popular than he has ever been.

Lebron had the same thing going on in Cleveland. He was the stud dragging a bad team to the Finals, the he went to Miami a d was part of an evil empire, then he went back to Cleveland and played the underdog to the Warriors (who's fans are obnoxious frontrunners) so he was loved. Now he has gone t ok the Lakers and people hate that stuff.

Well, by definition...just being at the top is going to draw a certain amount of hatred from sports fans who have to deal with his "talents" beating up on their favorite team and winning ships instead of their favorite team winning them.

But what I find interesting is that Lebron is the only player in the Top 6 of the "Least Favorite" list above that doesn't have a major highly publicized controversy attached to his name. And yet he is even at the very top of that list. The other 5 have had some major controversy which understandably adds more people to the list of people that don't like them.

So what gives with Lebron being at the top of that list?

And don't say "RACISTS!!!". There are two honkies and a self-described blasian on that very same list. Do better.
Politics?

I'll try a few:

Walter Payton, Barry Sanders, Willie Mays, Roberto Clemente, Dr J, Larry Bird, Pele, Derek Jeter (played for the Yankees, which probably excludes him)
Jerry Rice, David Robinson, Emmit Smith, and the list goes on.

I'd venture to say 90% of the NBA is liberal. You hate them all? Honestly, I don't see how anyone can hate Lebron.
I dislikehim because he helps fan the flames of racial divide. We don’t need that. The example is Michael brown, if you see that as an example of racist police you are the problem. Millions of young people take what he says as gospel and it is culturally destructive. he is the greatest basketball player tho and I do love how professional he is.

I just want to inform a few of you that you can dislike LeBron and not be a racist. It is hilarious to watch some of you react to someone disliking someone that's black. It must be racism. No he's pretty much a jerk.

The only real impactful form of racism today that has lingering effects on our culture is soft bigotry, the idea that we must accept a person of colors shortfalls and character flaws to accommodate individual assumptions and biases toward groups of people that we deem victims or less than. It is a subconscious element of the people in our western culture in the modern era. The problem arises however because lifetime victims never succeed in a free and open society. A free society is based around the idea that you're able to overcome victimization and succeed past it.

Also to be noted is personal feelings of inner hate and racist thoughts are usually projected outward and applied to others. It's a coping mechanism. MalcomX spoke about this issue regarding liberal white men

So really, a lot of the time, the most racist people you'll find underneath all of the ********, are the ones who first called it to attention.

Sporstwise I go back and forth on LeBron. Liked him in Cleveland, disliked him in Miami, liked him in Cleveland again, and now root against him in LA. Had he gone to Charlotte or Boston I would have liked him.

From a family/community perspective I’m a big fan of his. Probably one of the better role models out there.

From a politics/social issues perspective, I think he’s a moron. But I can separate those from the first two.

That's where I am. Although I think his political positions contradict his philanthropy, and the fact that anyone here would donate as much or more if we had the means, he still does it and it should be recognized. I dont hate him and I used to like him a lot before I realized the guy doesnt have a lick of loyalty in his body. It changed the way I felt about him personally.

LeBron as a basketball player = genius.
LeBron as a likeable dude? Pass.

When I go to a sporting event - I want to watch sports played at the highest level.

When I go to a concert - I want to hear music.

When the pampered and unchecked entertainer opens their mouths on political opinions, I can disagree. Can’t I? Doesn’t make me a racist does it?

Disagreeing with an athlete, or actor, or musician’s political platform (who undoubtedly doesn’t know the first thing about the timeless brilliance the US Constitution) doesn’t make me a racist - in fact - it ensures that I’m not a sycophant moron.

In most instances if we like or love someone then you have a difficult time understanding why others don’t share that same affection.

And I see things as “sport hate” and real hate. I could hate LeBron but it’s in the context of his persona as an athlete and the things he does in that role. LeBron does a lot of good work with his fame and wealth so I like that and commend him for that.

But I don’t like his basketball persona, and I’ll be honest it all started with that stupid “The Decision.”

LeBron: 90 % of nfl is old white men with slave mentality ... this is probably a distraction for him trying to recruit a. Davis to la to save his ***. I don’t know jack about nba rules on collusion but I know owners are pissed that LeBron commented on Davis coming to la

I changed my opinion of LeBron. He's a flipping moron and what he said about football owners is damaging to society. Eff him. I hope he tears his ACL.

Totally agree. I've been looking for a place to vent about this since I saw his comments. No player in any team sport alive today needs to bring up slavery. The only slavery any of them have ever known comes from the history books. But there are some that just can't let slavery go because it's an excuse for them.

I'm a white male in my 40's and the exact percentage of time I spend each day seething in anger for my hatred of the various ethnic groups totals out to exactly 0%. I've got my own life to worry about and the people I care about. Enough of this ********! I never used to dislike Lebron until the last few years. I would happily have been a 'slave' as he puts it to have a chance to live the kind of life he's led. This is going to fall on a lot of deaf ears I'm afraid.

Additionally: I hope to god Anthony Davis does not end up in LA. Because I don't want Lebron to win any more titles. Plus, I want to see some balance in the NBA. I'd like to see him go to Boston. The East needs a team that can challenge the ones out West. I think he'd be a perfect fit there. Having said that, I'm afraid he will end up a Laker.

He hyperextended his knee last night , this la gig is going to be too much to put on his shoulders eventually he will get hurt. I hope he turns out to be like basketballs Hillary Clinton where his game deteriorates so much and he just won’t shut up or go away.

Not that I agree or disagree with him because I don't pay attention to the NFL outside of the Patriots (my favorite team) and my fantasy team, but he said slave mentality, not slavery. There's a difference.

Okay, perhaps I should have used the term 'slave mentality' everywhere I used the word 'slavery' instead, would that have been better. The term 'slave mentality' is not solely limited to issues of race. But, Lebron is the one who did mention specifically all of the 'old white men' that owned NFL teams and their treatment of players, the great majority of which are black\ethnic. It doesn't take much of a stretch to figure out what he meant by it. I'm not really into splitting hairs when it's pretty obvious that Lebron is the one that made this into a 'slave mentality\slavery\race' issue.

Wait....weren't we supposed to make fun of Lonzo Ball in this thread?!? Can't we all agree on that?!?
