Another ho-hum 7 TD game on the road. 32 plays for 416 yards which is 13 yards per play. I get that BC is hot garbage, and Louisville will not beat a team with fewer than three losses, but he's pretty good. Good offense = good defense. Keep Lamar off the field. BC has been great defensively in recent years, but Lamar had wide open receivers and running lanes all game. I wish Lamar played for Kentucky......

I'm equally amazed at how horrid the BC offense is. They have been even worse in past years. Lamar likes touchdowns.

H. Walker was "great", B. Jackson was "great", P. Manning was "great." Jackson's not at that level yet. He's "real good", that better?
I think he's a great college player. It will be interesting to see how it translates to the NFL. He will definitely get his chance.

His " greatness" is debatable as anybody breathing can be great against Charlotte, Marshall, Syracuse, B.C. and the like. If he did in the Big 10 or the SEC what he's done in the ACC then he would be great.

Clemson's defense is legit and he shreaded them. BC has a great defense as well. Their problem is on offense. Only Bama, an injury, or Lamar himself stands a chance of stopping him.

So he had a great game against the one legit team UL has played (they lost) that doesn't prove greatness, 2 points.
1 if he's great what was peyton manning, John Elway and Dan Marino.
2. If he's great why is he at UL and not a big time program in an big time league?

I'm all U.K. I despise everything UL, UT and Duke. However I know how to give credit where credit is due. Dude is a helluva football player. In my 39 years of watching football he's the most dynamic player I've ever seen. He's Michael Vick with a better arm, or at the very least better accuracy. I'd take him on my team in a second. Anyone who can't see him as a great football player is looking through tinted lenses. I mean no offense by that. I just think your hate of the team overshadows his ability.

He's a really good player and I think he should win the Heisman Trophy in a landslide. Anyone that reads my posts knows how much I can't stand UL as well as their coaches and administrators. What I find funny in a good way is that we've got a huge number of posters that are big enough to admit how good the kid is but if the shoe were on the other foot there would be very very very few UL fans that would give the same kudos to a UK player. Jackson is great but their fans (for the most part) are classless bums.

1. I don't understand your point. He is a completely different QB than those 3, and he hasn't played in the NFL so you can't even compare their careers. This is like comparing apples and oranges without there being any oranges.

2. That's silly logic. If Jerry Rice was so great, why was he not even a D-1 football player? Plus Lamar Jackson had hard offers from dozens of major college programs. He was being pressed hard by Florida till the very end and picked Louisville over them. You also don't account for player development which is something Bobby Petrino and his staff are terrific at doing. There are 3 star players in the NFL from his first tenure here (and a couple of them are still very good). Now take a 4 star heavily recruited player like Jackson and mold him into a QB instead of just an athlete and you have yourself a legit football player.

I don't know, I'm starting to have my doubts about this Jerry Rice guy.

To be fair the thread is titled "Lamar Jackson" and I'm a Louisville fan. I'm sure I'm about as wanted here as our two presidential candidates are wanted in the Oval Office, but here I am.

Great individual player, but he is the extent of UL.

They are running a very simple O that lives and dies by LJ.

Contain him and teams can be in a position to win the game.

Can't over penetrate and/or pursue him, he's too fast and athletic. DL and DE just need to be disciplined and keep contain on passing plays, and they need to stick to their assignments on the ground with the read option.

Last but not least, don't try to come in high on LJ, hit his legs and wrap up.

Yeah, anyone can be great against those teams. That makes perfect sense. Because everyone is great against those teams. And great against FSU and Clemson and ...

Funny how people who watch games all over the country say he is by far the Heisman leader. Don't they realize his greatness was against teams ANYONE can be great against?

Peyton, John, Dan AND Lamar. There, fixed it. Now, that was not so hard.
