Huh? The kid is a true freshman and still learning on the fly. He is going to be a very good player for us

I think that is the result of needing to think about assignments too much before making the play. Young players often appear tentative because nothing is automatic or instinctive yet. Patience....

He's young. He made a mistake thinking he could play this season. His body language reflected that. Offseason will help him a lot.

He is very tentative probably because he's not comfortable in the system yet. At this point in the season it's OK for people to be critical of him though. He'll need to step it up big time next year!

I'm with the OP. True fresh or not, he's not physical at this point. #1 safety in the land out of HS, you would expect him to bring some physicality to the D. But in general, the whole D is soft. You watch these SEC DSL and they just fly to the football and lay wood.
