She was the wife of one of the younger guys. The one that had to take the shots in the belly.
The young guy was another senseless death written in by idiot Sheridan. He ruined 1923 with that disgusting stuff at Whitfied's house. I fast forwarded through all of it. Loved 1883.

Lesson learned from the latest episode, never try to bang a woman's omelet..
As with many shows I've watched, the longer it runs, the more off track it becomes.
It's getting to the point of not making a bit of sense.

Agree on the stuff at Whitfield's. Not needed at all. Sheridan has some great shows but he ruins much of it by adding in not needed stuff or adding in stuff that just simply is never revisited.

Finally caught up over the last couple weeks. Season one was fantastic. Season two has been very good but I think it helps that I was watching in bunches. Before I began, I assumed this was a rugged 'dad show.' I think TS wants this to be a show husbands and wives watch therefore we get mother and daughter characters that look and sound more like D-list celebrity Nashville transplants, you know, for the wives. But yeah, Billy Bob holds everything together and any scene with him is worth watching. If Sheridan lost his mind and put Thornton in a coma for two episodes, those are episodes I won't be watching.

Agree with whoever mentioned TS's ipod. I get it - Texas show, oil men, modern western...I'm not expecting Iron Maiden and I do like Stapleton, Childers, etc. but the musical choices are too on brand and lazy. Heck, give me some ZZ Top. They're from TX.

It seems to me like Sheridan gets bored midway through some of these series. If the wife and daughter had been sprinkled in here and there, ok. The way he’s utilized them has brought the show down a couple of notches.

Was there an explanation earlier in the series on why the daughter hates the son so much?

Ive been curious about that hate as well. So far just seems irrational.

Some of you all act like these shows should be based on true human reality. It’s entertainment. Yeah, some of it is dumb and some distasteful but it’s not supposed to be some super brilliant/dramatic show that test every fiber of brain cells you have.

The stuff at Whitfield's house was much more than distasteful. It was disturbing and disgusting.

Ugh,,,,,the women in this show bring absolutely nothing to the table.
Even their hotness factor does not stop them from all being cringy.
You and @Beatle Bum should get your testosterone checked. The lawyer is possibly the hottest girl on tv and Ali Larter is right behind here. They aren’t even remotely annoying enough to be a turnoff for the show.

It’s entertainment.
This is my standard and by that standard it fails for me. Not every show needs to be Band of Brothers, but there is no objective way to watch S2E1 and describe the show as entertainment. Some of it was torture. But where that existed in season 1, the Tommy character and BBT made the show something worth watching. His performance alone was entertaining. S2E1 was an autopilot disregard for the audience. The scene with Sam was the only arguable exception. So, while I weathered the idiocy and boredom moments of season 1 (the daughter storyline is just for the weak-minded, which is fine IF funny, and the son’s relationship was like a tranquilizer with how it drug on), it would be really really hard to watch S2E2 and have self respect. And, I have watched some dumb television. I watched every season of His Dark Materials and that got stupid in the last couple. It’s hard to drop a show you committed time too, but even the hotness of Ally can’t get me back.

I have no self respect so I’ve been pushing through.

My take on the latest episode. If they hit on the offshore, I think there will be another season.
If not, I can see this phasing out. This episode was much better than the previous. I do think Tommy's part was really good as in the previous.

LOL I don't watch anything on tv to be turned on by Hollywood actresses, but you do you.
I suggest you get out in the real word and don't waste that testosterone on Ali Larter. LMAO

Thank goodness I'm all caught up. LOL at people that think they're being funny when they tell people the ending of a movie, etc. Poindexters, lol.

The show is crawling to the end of the season for me. Obviously we're getting a father and son relationship slowly repairing itself but I think one main issue is TS doesn't know how to write for women (at least here) and that's an issue if you're going to focus on a wife, a daughter, a female boss, a lawyer, etc. Chris Nolan has rarely had interesting female characters too which is why his films don't put a big focus on them.
