Was having a debate with a friend on who the last true difference makers were on offense and defense. Guys who opposing teams had to game plan around.
I was saying Ameer on offense and Suh D. Other than that I can't really think of any in the last decade.

Are people forgetting what a freak Randy G was?
That’s fair. I think he doesn’t jump to mind because he was a bit of a flash and 2014 didn’t go as planned. But he was incredible against MI in 13.

Maliek Collins and Vincent Valentine were two more recent guys that flashed (especially Maliek), but didn’t sustain as difference makers

Suh and T-Mart as those are really the only 2 that the coordinators had to game plan for outside of just the Defense and Offense. Suh was just a total nightmare that no matter how much you would game plan for him alone, nothing would ever work. Taylor when healthy was a total nightmare himself when he took off with the ball. Ameer didn't really have to have a game plan for. DC's feared Martinez more than any RB we've had during this time period! Want an example? Look at my sig video. Imagine Martinez behind those 90's lines and what he would've done with elite blocking.

Agree, but he was a glass cannon. We need another Crouch, easy recruit, fast AND tough.

The only one man in the last 10 years that the opposing team had to game plan for, in my estimation was Suh.

Mike Leach, by the way, did a good job of that though. Baylor had some success double teaming against Suh at the expense of some 5 sacks by Crick in 2009.

Leach did a very good job of that IMO, probably better than anyone.

We actually had quite a few difference makers under Pelini and the ceiling was still 9 or 10 wins. We haven't seemed to have a difference maker in 4 or 5 years now. Even bad teams usually have a difference maker on their team so it's concerning we haven't found one in so long.
