I've heard insiders say on other boards that Beamer has to win out to keep his job.

Here's my opinion-

Win last two games: Beamer's retained

Lose last two games: Beamer's gone

Beat Coastal, lose to Clemson: I think Beamer would be retained

Lose to Coastal: may get fired before or after Clemson game regardless of score

It would be very Gamecock for us to lose to Coastal and then beat Clemson.

You can't possibly retain a coach who went 4-8, had a record setting choke job in blowing a 27-point halftime lead AND lost to Coastal.

You can't possibly fire a coach who is 3-2 against Clemson.

I feel like the Clemson game will be the deciding factor. Even though this has been a dreadful season, I think we are a better than Clemson. Maybe not in record or the way we can’t close out games, but we have hung with the best teams in the country. IF the players haven’t checked out mentally, we should win that game. It will be hard to fire a guy who has beaten Clemson 3 out of the last four years. Now…I don’t think that’s a reason to keep him. I know how the fans and the board puts so much emphasis on that game, but Beamer is not gonna take us to new heights.

It would be really bad to check out against your rival.
