He will have most of his own players, his system, whatever that is, should be in stone. He will have no excuses after this year. 8-4 the minimum.

I can't foresee 8-4. He does need to at least get 6 however.

Gonna be tough to get 6 wins but not impossible. We will need to beat SC and Vandy at home and either Mizzou or UL on the road.

6 wins keeps him here. 5 probably does. 4-8 or worst gets him fired.
If 4 - 8 next season gets our coach fired, then he would truly be on the hot seat; 5 or more wins is highly unlikely given our brutal schedule. No, our idiot of an AD has guaranteed at least two more years regardless of our record. I remain hopeful our young coach can learn and improve and he can turn this ship (Titanic?) around before it completely sinks. A probable fatal blow would be the total collapse of his next two recruiting classes.

If Coach Stoops wins only 5 games, then he must be competitive in the other games. What will get him fired quicker then winning games, is not getting fans at the games. If the fans stay away, then it will cost him his job, regardless of the buyout.
If he is competitive in most of the games, he will get another year, even if he only wins 4 games. He must beat Vandy, and Southern Miss in the first game. A loss to Southern Miss would be disastrous for him.

Pretty new to Kentucky football right. I know you want better than whats on the filed and you demand more but when did Kentuck last win 8 games? But know 8 is the minimum.

See no way for 8 wins, but I sure as hell want six maybe seven and a damn team and coaching staff that looks like they know what the hell they are doing

Pretty much agree with this except..... A lot of long time season ticket holders aren't renewing and a lot of fans that go to the games aren't going to do so next year. If Stoops flops again CWS will be a ghost town by the end of the season. That would get him fired but there's that 15 million buyout issue that will be a real problem.

Maybe Cal has some friends that are football coaches,he could chip in on the buy-out and then have to stay around because he is so invested in UK a win all the way around:)

While this year’s schedule was tailored made for success, and UK failed. Next year’s schedule is tailored made for a certain amount of failure. Will that be another excuse? With the schedule for next season being as it is and the fact that there has been no real changes in the coaching staff to suggest a change, I can’t see UK with an 8-4 record. Additionally, regardless of next year’s record, I don’t see UK going after a new HC, still too much $$$ to absorb.

Back when I drank the Blue Kool-Aid earlier this year, I thought an 8-4 record was a possibility for 2015. No way the team goes 8-4 next year; 4-8 is much more likely. Stoops would be a miracle worker it we could somehow scratch out a 6-6 record.

Will anyone be happy with a 6 win season, with what he's getting paid? Count me out. He needs to win 8 games. 7-5 I'll take if we got screwed in one or two.

I don't look for Stoops to be gone any time soon. With that ridiculous contract and the fact that he let Joker run the program into the ground and still wanted to keep him on. If CWS does become a ghost town, Mitch will be between a rock and a hard place with that buyout.

You sound frustrated but if Stoops would go 6-6 next year, the program would be going in the right direction with that schedule.

don't forget southern miss at home we saw what happened with EKU this year southern miss could definitely beat us
Yes they could,we will have to put several points on the board to beat them.If Barker is at QB there is a question if we can do that or not.

I know some are down on our QBs but I think Drew and even Towles when he was here, can do much better with an improved team around him.

No doubt about that, what we have seen of Barker thus far leaves questions as to how strong his skill set really might be. I haven't seen him do anything that really jumps out and says hey that looked pretty good.

The long pass completion at Vandy was a ball that was under thrown a bit and happened to be in between 2 defenders.

Maybe he make some big time progress in the off season,we can only hope.

All true. But if he needs 8 wins next year to stay employed somebody better start raising $12M right now. [winking]

He returns and coaches 2017 unless he goes 0-12 AND gets caught with NCAA violations

Can you really get into trouble with the NCAA while going 0-12? I guess they could be so upset with unc and ul that they could penalize us. :)

That CWS 'thing' concerns me big time. As I said, I know a lot of long time season ticket holders are done. They won't renew. I know a bunch of these groups and they're not bluffing. There will also be a lot of people that just flat out won't go so they can prove a point like they did in Joker's last year. There will be a lot of fans that will go that normally can't since tickets will be free or very inexpensive but the no-shows will far outweigh the new fans in the stands. Barring a miracle CWS will be that ghost town you refer to. UK football is in serious trouble as if it isn't already bad enough.

I got $20 for 4 good tickets and a blue parking pass to the Louisville game, this is a good indication of the status/interest in UK football!!

8 - 4 is a ridiculous measure for whether to keep him or not. The schedule is much tougher next year. Plus, a perennial bottom feeder in the SEC should never fire a 4th year coach based on getting 8 wins. That just signifies in my mind how many of our fans don't really understand who we are in football.

Barnhart is gonna stick with Stoops to the very last because his job depends on Stoops succeeding. If I remember correctly, Barnhart went mostly solo on the football hire(like the BCG hire) & we know how that went. The Cal hire was out of his hands so his pride is probably hurt a little bit since Cal has been so successful here.

This^^^^

CMS has painted himself into a corner. If he doesn't show improvement next year, he will get one more year to do it or he will have to be let go.

Even though the Cal hire rumor has been proven false over and over again, people still bring it up. It would be funny if it didn't say a lot about our fan base.

For a following that hasn't sniffed an SEC record above .500 in almost 40 years, our unending allegiance says "a lot about our fan base"!!

Our "fan base" has gone above and beyond to support a program and it's leaders that have given us very little in return!!

If this is in response to my post, what does that have to do with anything I said? If not, carry on.

dumb post.

6 wins and Stoops can reclaim momentum with the program. 5 wins again and he should be fired immediately. So far, he is no better than Joker with his in-game coaching. In fact, he's probably worse.
