I want to make sure you are acutely aware, from all of us, not only are we not tired of these, if anything, I’d argue I’d like more. Anything we can do @skysdad during this time that gives you any solace at all, is worth it’s weight in gold.

I remember how good you were to me during my accident (and always put a smile on my face with the “peckerhead” jokes that probably very few even remember anymore!) so if we can make your old wrinkly butt smile, we will haha!

Hang in there Sky....

This means so much to me coming from you K-ville. OFC

Thoughts and prayers for you sir. My dad had a lung transplant 3 years ago and they have to keep a close eye on his kidneys now with all the meds he takes. Keep up the good fight, you are going to do great !

K-Ville hit the nail on the head with his last post. Whenever anyone on this board is going through a struggle you are always there for them and a huge supporter, Sky! You bring more positive vibes to this board than the rest of us combined. Keep the updates coming. It’s time we return the favor.

I'm having trouble falling off to sleep tonight so I thought I would check out DI. Your post is the first one I saw. Yes through the years a lot of us have ask for prayers and support. It's amazing to me that since most of us have never met how close we've become. Most of us will never meet. We live coast to coast and I do think of us as a brotherhood. I know every now and then we have disputes but when one of us needs support its always there. Since my recent health issues I find myself wanting to be a little more kinder and respectful to the members here. That doesn't mean that I'm not going to put a troll in their place but for the members here I will never put them on ignore because just because I don't agree with them doesn't mean their opinions are not worth anything. I haven't put many on ignore anyway. Someone once told me to be careful what you say to people because it may be very well the last thing you do say to them. The same goes here with posting. You never know and I know I would feel pretty bad if I had posted something I could not apologize for. If I see it getting out of hand I'm going to just stop the conversation. My wife thinks I'm addicted to this board and if I'm going to be addicted to something it's nothing better. Hoping your wife is continuing to improve and thanks for the kind words and support. OFC

She is doing great. Far exceeding the expectations doctors had, but that doesn’t surprise me. Thanks for thinking of her.

Get better and keep us updated.

well there are worse things than being addicted to a message board.

the CT scan that detects coronary artery calcification is a non specific test. Its a screening exam. More detailed information on the status of your coronary arteries can be obtained from 2 further studies.

1. Some sort of stress test (stress ECHO, treadmill etc)

2. Cardiac catheterization where they put radiographic dye in your arteries and identify any blockages and then recommend therapy based on those findings.

A lot of us can have those findings and have no significant severe blockages. So lets see what the cardiologist says...

Long-time board member, but haven’t felt a real need to post until now. I wish you only the best Skysdad; I especially enjoy your posts and although I’ve never met you personally, it seems like I’ve known you and the rest of this squad for years. I will certainly being praying for you and your family. Thank you for all that you’ve brought to this board; I look forward to it continuing for years to come.
Welcome to the board. Nice first post!

Having luckily and successfully survived two bouts with cancer, I am closely in tune with the frustration you feel waiting for a complete diagnosis of what is going on. It takes guts to share your fears and concerns with others while you feel you are "twisting slowly in the wind" until your doctors spell out the exact nature of the problem and the plan of attack.or spell out the full prognosis for the future. Keep hanging in there.

Its easy to get overwhelmed by these things. Just remember - heart disease is a problem because of what we don't know. Your doctors are going to find out and give you a course of treatment that will be of benefit. It may be something as simple as taking an aspirin with a statin (lipitor).

Hi sky.

Sorry to hear you're having a hard time. My grandfather had some artery blockage and if I'm remembering correctly, they adjusted his diet to begin with and added a cholesterol medicine at a later time. He eventually had to have stents put in, but that was 25 to 30 years later when he was 90. At any rate, I'll keep you in my prayers and believe all will be well.

Prayers with you buddy. I’m curious if they’ll do more, as mentioned, like an echo (although can be inconclusive) or an angiogram (sounds scary but I had one due to my irregular heartbeat and it wasn’t bad at all). Get the ticker checked out and get that clearance before kidney surgery. Heart procedures and surgery are routine today, so that’s good if you need anything done (not downplaying your situation as I’m sure it’s nervewracking)!

Just found out yesterday that pre kidney surgery I will have a tube inserted tomorrow at Duke.I will not be put to sleep but must stay over night for observation. Gonna be a long day. The tube is to get rid of any inflammation and they may go ahead and remove the present kidney stones and stint. Should be able to go home Thursday morning. The tube was initially schedule 2 weeks prom now but was moved up yesterday when I had a CT scan. Duke has to win tonight. OFC

Praying for you Sky and wishing you the best! Hopefully surgery doesn’t interfere with Duke basketball...watching a national championship game that goes down to the wire right after surgery is no fun...did that in 2010 and I know if Hayward’s shot would’ve gone in, I would’ve ended up back in the hospital. Think positive thoughts and hang in there.

Hey Sky, I wish you the very best tomorrow with the tube and having the stones removed. Ironically, I also have an appointment tomorrow with my oncologist at the Duke Cancer Center at 12:30 until around 1:30. Even though not an ideal time and realizing you might possibly be in surgery, I would love to drop by your room if you'll be in one by then so we can meet for the first time.
If you have any idea on how to make this meet up happen let me know. Of course if you feel this is undoable tomorrow I fully understand. I also have a burner cell phone I can give you the number of.

That would be awesome. I'm taking my tablet and cell . Hope they can give me the WiFi and if so I can let you know through DI. If not give me the phone number and I will reach you one way or another once I come to my senses. My procedure is scheduled at 1 and is supposed to last about 1 hour. How long are you going to be there? OFC

My doctors visit is from 12:45 until maybe around 1:30 to 1:45. My wife needs to visit a lady she works with whose husband is sick after my visit so Im not sure exactly what the times might actually be. The phone number is 910-728-5483. Our times conflict but we'll see.
