Here is my latest project. I am building a couple of end tables for my oldest son. This is the first one. I'm still finishing up the second one. It's a floating top design. The top is tiger maple with a walnut strip down the center. The frame is walnut with maple dowels through the tenons. Bringing this back to the top for my latest project. Gave my old bench to my mom and now I feel like I have a shortage of exterior furniture. So I decided to try another bench but with a table in the middle. I think it turned out pretty good. The only thing I'm not happy with is the gap in the front of the table section. There's enough room for a 2x2 strip in there with a small gap on each side. So I might do that.
Still need to sand the whole thing and probably will cover the screws when I know the weather will be nice for a few days. Yes it's currently in my kitchen. Cut everything outside and assembled it in the house to enjoy the air conditioning. I'm debating how I will finish it. Thinking about using a torch on it and just sealing it after that.
My next big project is finishing up where an old above ground pool was in the backyard. Threw some fill dirt in there. Going to probably have to till it up more and see how much it drops when it keeps getting wet. I want to then cover the area in fabric and mulch. Then just need to figure out what to make to put out there. Was thinking of some seating with maybe a fire pit. Anything but grass. Don't want anymore grass to deal with.
I'm doing some home improvements on the inside of the house as well over the next few months. So will be bouncing around a lot.

A roundover bit on the arms, back, and other spots would dress it up and make it nicer to handle. Even just a 1/8” roundover bit would be enough.
If you don’t have a router, invest in one even if it is just a smaller palm router like the Bosch Colt.

That's what the build called for, but don't have one at this time. Might be my next tool purchase. This is just the simplest way to do it with minimal tools. I'll try and make things look fancier when I have a better setup.

I’ve redone screened-in covered area attached to side of my workshop. It’s nothing fancy, all pressure treated framing, but am thinking of putting a hot tub inside there, so I built a wide doorway (7.5’) to be able to get the hot tub inside. Now I just need to build the doors, I’m thinking one 3’ wide, and other (rarely to use) 4.5’ wide.
So I need to choose what I’m going to build it with. I’m thinking a 6” wide frame. The options I see at Lowe’s or HD are:
- 2x6 pressure treated. Cheapest. Most weather resistant since near the beach. But is the heaviest.
- 1x6 cedar. I could double them up to make thicker
- 1x6 primed pine, would need to paint

Just got a $200 rebate from T-Mobile so I decided to look into a table saw. There's an 8 1/4" and a 10" to go with ones with a table and ones without. I am thinking about the 8 1/4” without the table and that can leave me more for something else. Also thinking about a router. There's smaller ones of those and ones that say plunging. Any feedback for either of those tools (table saw and router)? Got a table project I want to start next.
"nom de plume" suits you perfectly, in that; It tries too hard, doesn't really make sense if you think about it, and, to your mind apparently, sounds sophisticated because it is "continental"...
(also, I have zero doubt that you're a bit of a "dandy", because only a popinjay would choose "nom de plume" LOL)

Was looking around and found a table saw I liked so went ahead and got it. It was on sale for $80 off. Was going to go with Craftsman but this one had a larger table area and wheels for moving it around. Plus $10 cheaper. My miter saw has worked great for a number of years and it's a Cobalt. Will just wait on the router for now.

I didn't like where I would have to mount my surrounds because of no wall or a window in the way so I decided to make stands using 3" PVC pipe, toilet flanges, 3/4" plywood, and some 3/4” square dowels. The paint job isn't the best due to getting low on paint and had a wind issue. So it is what it is. Also had issues with the dowel measurements but made it work.
I filled each with play sand to weigh them down. Plus put some sliders on them to keep the wood from scratching the floor. Might switch to the rubber grippy ones if the speakers start moving around. To buy anything similar to this it would have cost me probably $150+. The cheaper ones on Amazon looked flimsy. I made it for like $60. I was going to put adjustable feet on them in case the floor is uneven, but didn't like how it looked. I'm pretty happy with how they turned out.

I actually haven't had a chance to use it yet. Trying to look into a bigger shed for it to make it easier to use. I used my circular saw for this project. Not the best cuts. Might build a guide for it to make straighter cuts until I get to using table saw.

Those look like Sony SS CS5 speakers, which are an unbelievable bargain. I've got a pair hooked up to my HiFi audio system in my den.
I have 2 of these in the front and now these 2 for surround. You can't really find quality 3 way speakers like these for $200 or less these days. I already had the front pair but got these and a Sony center speaker to replace a 20 year old JBL set I had. Also added 2 Sony Atmos speakers and a 10" Sony sub (was using a Yamaha 8" from an old surround sound system). Plus replaced my also 20 year old receiver with a newer Sony 7.2 receiver (going to be ran as a 5.1.2 system. Just decided to go all Sony on the system because of the luck I've had with Sony products previously.
