Did he give prices for season tickets and parking tags, or what cable channel was carrying the games?
I agree with this. Let players who are 18 years old or thereabouts try to make the nba and either succeed or fail at their jobs like others their age and potentially have a minor league system. College sports should be for student athletes who want to be there.
On the basketball side of things I think a high school kid should be allowed to explore his pro options before deciding on college. Now if decides to declare for the NBA draft then he forfeits his college eligibility. However if someone decides to go to college then he has to stay for 3 years much like football(some will leave for the NBA and others might stay for their 4th year if they are close enough to earning a degree). If the high school kid doesn't get drafted then he can go the NBA development route or go overseas and build his resume that way. I think this is the best way to allow a Lebron type kid to go directly to the NBA and it gets rid of the one and done which is worse than no rules at all. Plus it betters the college game with keeping guys in the system for 3 years as they develop.
Yeah, I'm kinda feeling it myself. I'd like to see if he can turn this idea into something that works.
Here is what people like Ball fail to realize, I follow Rutgers because I like College sports and I like Rutgers. All though I want the best players playing for me, I do not watch because of the players name. It's the tie to the college.
While I understand the market for this and inefficiency in the current set up of CBB, has the system become such that not even 10 or 12 of the 80 kids who “don’t want to go college” turn out MUCH better off for having gone to school (Ball claims he needs 80 players for the league)? And while I agree the idea has “merit” that fact shines a light on how ineffective CBB is on educating these kids and emploring these kids to take advantage of education.
you won't be able to fill a league with 1 and done's, and the kids who aren't elite prospects won't jeopardize their college eligibility for 10k per week. He's trying to create a league because he messed up two of his kids' futures, and had to send them to Lithuania. You can't build a league from watching 19 year olds playing at the YMCA.
So other than letting high school players step straight into an non-college / income producing situation - what would be the remarkable distinctive difference from the NBA G League (formerly the "D" League)

What sustainable unique thing would Lavar Ball be able to incorporate that would enable this vision of his to effectively compete with an existing league of 26 teams - teams who already have financial backing, facility arrangements and direct connections to the NBA
While, from a distance, this may be an interesting idea - which genuinely wealthy individuals (need several - actually several 'severals') would pony up multiple buckets of real BIG MONEY to attempt to get something like this off the ground ?

Actually, Rokdesh--that's 3K a month for the non-elite prospects. The 10K guys would be the one-and-dones--guys that would benefit more from a year at an elite college program and better competition and coaching they would get there. Can see this appealing to decent HS players who are really uninterested in college and want to make 3K a month to play basketball. No idea how you build loyalty to team year to year, since it is a whole new team every year

NCAA has to clean things up AND not allow NBA to use them as the minor leagues.

No use for Ball, but basically agree with the idea. Kids should be encouraged/compensated for participation in apprenticeship or interning programs or community college. Play hoops, learn about life (but who would trust Ball with this),and begin working towards a career.
Why do I have the feeling the only one who'll make money in the end is Ball?
Useless idea. All the NBA has to do is get rid of the Age limit and the G League is the best option. The NBA's investment in the G League has really ramped up and the two-way contracts are a great idea. Silver is the best commissioner around and is steps ahead of Ball.
A poor mans Don King without hair was an apt description of Lavar Ball.
The Lithuanian experiment will be his next failed situation where he will inevitably blame others for the outcome.
