I don't keep up with the operations of UNC athletics but I would imagine they do like most schools and have a totally separate private athletic association that is not part of the actual university that does all the hiring, firing and other business operations of the athletic programs.

Does he have any chance of beating that team upstate next week?
I think Clemson probably gets things straightened out pretty well with the bye and smokes UNC. Their schedule is not that daunting, with only FSU @ home left. It wouldn't surprise me to see them win out, to be honest. 9-3 with the ACCCG and they could sneak into the playoff discussion.

The soft as warm butter ACC schedule is the reason Dabo will never leave Clemson. He knows they are the only real football program in the conference and if he went anywhere else, he would have to actually compete against more than one conference team a season that could reasonably beat him. He knows he can get in the playoff every year by winning the ACC, no matter what his record is.

He has to get some help from Gt, FSU and Miami, who are all ahead of him in the ACC.

Miami may well go undefeated if they get past FSU next week.

GT doesn't play another ranked team until UGA.

Deck is stacked against Clemson starting out 0-2 in conference play, but I'm just used to seeing them pull it together and get some lucky fortune along the way. The mediocrity of the conference has usually ended up making it easy for most teams to beat up on each other, making it pretty easy for Clemson to rise to the top. Will be interesting to see how it plays out. On paper, none of them have a tough schedule from here out.

GT can lose to UGA and still win the ACC if they win out. Miami is sort of a mystery to me. They haven't really played anyone yet. I'm not sure the win over Bama was as big as it appeared at the time for FSU, we will know more after tomorrow's Bama/UGA game.

Dabo has a deal with the devil. I'm sure one of the teams above him will have a loss or two no one sees coming and he will get into the ACCCG.

Just seems like things are lining up too perfectly for another "I told you so" speech from Dabo after Clemson wins the ACCG and sneaks into the playoffs.

Buyer's remorse.

The intelligent UNC fans know paying a boatload for an "Xs and Os" coach isn't worth what it used to be.

You can't use Belichick's name to lure big talent anymore.

You need a bag of cash too.

Below is a response I had to "Harvard Gamecock" thinking it might reasonate with him given his esteemed background. 👇

Then I learned he was just another character in one man's coconut. :)

Risk-adjusted returns (ala Sharpe Ratio) consistently has shown that teams with top-10 recruiting classes (e.g. BAMA, UGA, etc.) achieve high win percentages (0.870+) with low variability (yielding high ratios -- e.g., 2.5-3.0).

At the elite schools, "finding the right coach" is more a function of "don't F this up."

We don't have that luxury -- especially in this NIL environment.

Yep. They aren’t the natty contenders they were not all that long ago and it looks worse there now than it has in a while but just a couple years ago it looked like the wheels were coming off and they turned it around.

Last year they took the ACC again. Plenty of us criticize their soft ACC schedule but they keep winning and have been one of the most consistent programs in the sport for over a decade. Winning like they have for as long as they have is difficult regardless of your conference.

This season the conference title may already be out of reach but they still have the talent to win the rest of their games. At this point I would be surprised to see them have a losing or .500 season and not surprised at all to see them finish 9-3.

And just like that, FSU loses to UVA. If Clemson wins out and beat them, then they have to head to head.
