Last two weeks WSU has played two pretty good teams and the results have not been good. Solid 8-4 campaign for Leach and WSU, but I just thought I'd mention this as people were talking him up so much earlier this year.

For the record, I like Leach and have no doubt he is a better coach than Stoops, but the guy has his issues.

Leach ran the record setting offense in the SEC. Didn't you notice a major decline when he left? Mumme wasn't the play caller that Leach was here. I'd trade Stoops for Leach in a heartbeat. I am afraid this bowl game will be nothing but fool's gold. I am expecting a poor season next year. I hope Stoops proves me wrong, but every time I get my hopes up with him, they end up crushed.

Washington is more typical of the types of teams he would face in the SEC which is why I've never been very warm on the Leach to UK mantra.
I agree. While I think he would get 6-7 wins a year under him I just don't think his style of play would work in this conference.

I don't know how Leach would do at UK as far as ceiling but I know it would be higher than Stoops (IMO).

He's a solid coach, nothing more, nothing less. He's won at TX Tech and is winning solidly at WSU. WSU is a pretty bad program overall.

What a ridiculous statement. You will be the first one on here basing Stoops if we start off like WSU has today. Leech has never been in the SEC. So you can't see he would have done better.
I don't think you compare the two coaches right now. Leach head shoulders above Stoops. Leach had TT getting 8-10 wins. Now has WSU close.

That poster was being sarcastic about Leach. Maybe comprehension is needed by you. What's embarrassing is have smart mouth but no brains to go with it.

It is called a freaking discussion. Your defensiveness about Leach, of all things, is sad.

Fact..Those who don't have solid comebacks turn into the grammar police.

Fact...I never discredited him.
Comebacks for what? You claimed you knew what I would do, when FACT is, you don't.
I have given Stoops credit but I have also criticized him. It's called being objective. Something you are not. You think Stoops is a better coach than Leach?

Merrimanm, if your going to argue, at least spell Coach LEACH name correctly.

OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!

Leach is an outstanding coach. Leach and Petrino were both available to UK. They are hands down the best FBS head coaches Barnhart will ever have the opportunity to hire. Either would likely have been successful here.

So since my opinion of Leach vs Stoops is different than yours, then I am sad? [roll]
You messed up in your arrogant post about somebody comparing Stoops to Saban so now I'm sad. I'm embarrassing a legend? That's what folks do when they have rational argument, personal attacks....[laughing]

For what it's worth, Washington State plays a much tougher schedule than we do. Not saying all that much ... our schedule one of the weakest of any Power 5 school the last few years.

Washington looking amazing. Pac 12 Championship Game will be fun.

Now you are a dumb a$$. I never said anything about your opinion considering Stoops. You are a fool.

Thanks for proving my point....and for being classless. You really do not understand well.
I am refraining from saying much more because I don't want to continue to argue with you and I don't want to get banned, but I will say that your personal attacks show a lack of intelligence.

I never said he was better than Stoops. But I don't know that he would have done any better here than Stoops has. Circumstances are different, and it takes different dynamics for a situation to work.

Take Tubby for example. He was awesome at Tulsa and UGA. But most wanted him gone fairly quickly after the NC that they give Pitino credit for. It takes a different type of coach for UK basketball. The same is true for all schools. People think it is easy to just get a certain guy and run. It isn't that easy.

Leach has proven he can get it done and in different leagues. Has also coached in the SEC. WSU maybe be a bigger rebuilding project than UK. Admittedly don't know their whole history, but don't remember them being much at all.
Not saying Leach would win the SEC, but I think he's proven to be a better coach up to this point. Imagine trying to recruit there. Leach was really the mastermind behind Mumme's offense.

Our SOS is 65th, (Sagarin)..WSU 42nd. Others...Washington 64th, Houston 80th

Not as tough as usual, but not chopped liver either.

Leach's first 3 years at WSU....12-25. The bashers would have bee screaming for his head.

And that offense sputtered after Tim Couch left and the defenses caught up to something new to the game.

One thing you leave out though, is he was at TTU who had much talent to choose from even after Texas, Baylor, A&M and those schools got their picks. So he had talent. As far Washington st., it is a very weak league and he doesn't have to compete against many teams for recruits as the west coach is loaded with talent, but not many schools to fight for it.

As opposed to Kentucky who has to fight multiple big time programs for the same recruits, and then turn around and have to beat those same teams with far more talent. Again, the dynamics are different.

The record is true but that's a tad misleading considering Leach was bowl eligible in year 3 and WSU hadn't been to a bowl since 2006. Heck, they'd only won 10 games total in the last 4 years before Leach arrived with only 1 and 2 win seasons over the last 3. It wouldn't be crazy to say he inherited a much worse program than Stoops.

I wouldn't count Leach completely out of this game yet. His defense couldn't stop a pig in a two foot alley.

Colorado and UW are in the top 10 I believe. USC, UCLA, AZ, ASU, Oregon and Utah are good programs. USC and UCLA of course have great tradition and history. WSU would probably be the last in that conference as far history and destination, so I would say Leach has done pretty good.
YOU think UK could beat most teams in the PAC 12 right now? Leach is sitting at 8-3. Won 9 last year I think. That's pretty good considering what he took over. He's beaten ranked teams while there. Something Stoops has not done.
