I was in high school in the mid 1970s before they started selling unleaded gas but both leaded and unleaded were sold for years after until leaded gas went away completely. The vast majority of regulations are created to protect human health and/or the environment which is why people need to think carefully about the regulations they oppose and about why they were created in the first place. Leaded paint was another way that children were exposed (eating flaking paint chips from old houses) during this period. It was banned for residential use in 1978. Polluting industries just want to save money and increase profits by reducing regulations that affect them. The vast majority do not care about the effects that their pollution has on human health and the environment from their products or from living near their production facilities. There are many more examples including asbestos and big tobacco. This post is for all people but primarily for Repubs/MAGA whose politicians are totally pro-industry and anti-regulation. Strike a better balance.
