I thought he was announcing at 2:30? Haven't seen a commitment yet from him... Anyone know if he chose Oregon for sure?

Any chance we get this kid? or are we done at 20? I'm holding out hope but don't feel good about it.

I have said you don't turn down a guy like Onyemaobi isless you have someone like Lenoir lined up

He can play receiver too

I was dead wrong on Lewis and Johnson so take it for what it is worth

Agreed, unless what we heard about Onyemaobi isn't true.

yeah. the whole self probation kind of sucks... but this class has been a real nice surprise!

Right?? I mean, yeah, I'm pissed we missed out on a couple of the targets we were on, but at the same time...we're seeing some serious talent land here. And from the looks of it, 2018 is going to be a slightly smaller class but could wind up being loaded to the teeth with talent (we already have three very good recruits, plus we now have our coaches, including the new ones, with a year to work on guys).

I don't think the coaches are going to be upset about having an extra couple schollies for next year if the right guys don't come along right now. Next year is a pretty lean senior group.

NU filled a ton of needs today. Missing on a WR group by 1 is not earth shattering.

And we may not be done this year yet, as you have pointed out.

It is a good class with players who will make us better, for sure.
But as others said it's also okay to be disappointed if we under-sign yet again (there's still time)
Either way, there's nothing wrong with expecting a class full of talent such as we have, and also filling out potential scholarships. That's what it takes to get top 15 and 10 classes Nebraska needs.
Of course Riley could be planning on giving a permanent scholly to a walk on who deserves it and who he knows will contribute and I'm all for that if that's the case.

Yep. You cannot build depth if you are only signing 20 kids or so a year.

Lets not over react, target was 21 maybe 22 with room to move upwards if it was the right guys. Next year will be smaller even.

If Riley doesn't work out, the first class of the next administration will be pretty big because these 2017/18 were smaller classes.

I have no idea if they told him no or not, I don't believe they would but I will never know. I do know that TCU hired Sonny Dykes (former Cal coach), the former Head coach where he was committed? That could have had something to do with it. He did rave about both visit so maybe he just wanted to play there? I will never know and now I sit and wait for Lenoir. Hope we get him????

If we're going to miss in numbers, I'm glad it's at WR as it's looking like we can recruit well there and should be able to fill spots next year.
But there's more than 1 open scholly. DB, LB, OL or DL woulda been a nice addition.

Quality over quantity. Can't reach on guys just to fill spots. What the real difference in signing a guy that won't contribute and eats up a needed scholarship for a few years and having no one at all for one year? I'd rather sign 18 next year 20-21 this year, than 23 with a few plan Bs this year and 15 next year.

Well we stand at 20 now and the target, as you say, was 21-22. And we may not be done. There might be a juco or graduate transfer to pursue

Yuuuup! I really want to see what happens with Radley-Hiles this summer. I heard that he's going wherever Lindsey was going to end up, and that kid is a monster. If you can include him, we're at 4 recruits for 2018 already and a top 15 ranking. I think we're 15th even without him.

The program is trending up, and it's a gradual process by design. Let's see what happens this spring and next year!

That's just seniors. Doesn't include any attrition between now and then.

I expect a class of around 18-20 for 2018
I agree. That is just what it would be today. 13 + 3 + undersigned by 2 this year + attrition. We could sign just as many next year as this year.

And my guess is that is probably a good thing. It's probably a lot more difficult to build a good team if you're oscillating between tiny classes and huge classes year to year.

I agree, we need to balances classes in terms of numbers and position.
