I can see Les Miles being the next coach at Vandy after Mason is let go this year

Just think if they hadn't let the play clock expire on that last play, he would still have a job.

Pathetic. They wanted to do it last year but caved to fickle fans after they had a stirring win over A&M after word leaked he was getting the can. Now they wasted an entire offseason and may have missed on who they wanted.

I thought they kept Miles because all their top choices to replace him wouldn't pick up the phone.

Do you guys like Stoops that much? Why wouldn't Miles be an upgrade? (Yes, I know Miles to UK would never happen)

My opinion is that his better days have passed him by. He has way under performed in recent years at a place like LSU where he has among the top 5 classes annually loaded with 4 and 5 stars so why would you think he would suddenly regain his mojo at UK? That, plus the fact that he is now into his 60's (near 63, I believe) so he wouldn't necessarily be a long term guy at UK either. Just some of my thoughts on him. I think there are better guys out there although I know not all of them would jump at the chance to go to UK. Miles might not either, if offered.

I think the fact he had a top 5 recruiting class on the line, played a huge part in them keeping him.

No, but Miles is declining at LSU, which has a much has a fertile recruiting base. It would be similar to when Tubby went to Minnesota, on paper it looked like a good hire, in reality the fire in the belly was gone, I think this is what Miles at UK would be.

Would be nice to make a move and get Miles and let stoops get the hell out of town!
You don't want him. He's horrible at X's and O's and making adjustments, is the worst clock manager in the country, and can't develop a QB to save his life. Most overrated coach in the country, IMO. If it weren't for the fact that he were in a state with ZERO in-state competition, he'd lose 4-5 games every single year.

Amazing story, if true. But let's remember that LSU came within a whisker of firing Miles last year, and the Tigers aren't exactly off to the kind of start predicted by their high preseason national ranking. The SEC-W is the best college football in the country, and the LSU job is 1 of the toughest. I think Miles and Cameron will land on their feet. A lot of jobs are going to be open at the end of this season.

My guess is he winds up as a CFB analyst for ESPN or Fox. As much as I thought he was an overrated coach, I think he'd be pretty good (and entertaining) as an analyst.

Any guesses on where Miles ends up?
Les Miles came to LSU from Oklahoma State. I would guess he will land somewhere west of Baton Rouge. But he grew up in Ohio, so he might be attracted to the Big 10 if the right fit is available. Miles is 62 years old, so the next job could be his last. Or maybe he will just hang it up. LSU owes him a fortune.

Petrino is not going anywhere but Louisville!
Petrino is stuck at Louisville for a long time because of his contract. A cash-flushed school like LSU could afford to buy UL out, if they were really determined to do it. I don't think Jurich would be crushed to end up with Brohm. But LSU will make a big move for Jimbo Fisher before even thinking about anyone else.

Let's see...he gets great talent at LSU because of their outstanding tradition. And he underperforms on the field given those excellent recruiting classes. Horrible clock management, QB development non existent....sounds like Bill Curry redux.

If miles can't win at LSU what makes you think he can win at uk? All the 4 and 5 stars lsu has. look at the history of what uks coaches have gone on to do it's nearly a coaching graveyard.

We could fire Stoops if our administration had the same expectations that LSU has. Our program would be tickled to win 6 and go to the BBVA Compass Bowl. LSU actually wants to compete for titles.

we should hire miles, but i bet usc gets him.
